THE ROLE:
FloSports is seeking a Sr. Data Analytics Engineer to join our high-impact Business Intelligence team. Our team owns company-wide reporting, analytics, and insights, our Snowflake data infrastructure, and our ML/AI models. These include our content valuation model, similar to Netflix’s adjusted view share, and our demand forecasting models that forecast critical financial KPIs, including sign ups, viewership, engagement, and customer lifetime value (LTV).
To start, this role will be critical in refactoring and enhancing our existing data infrastructure, delivering value through the introduction of new demand forecasting modules, providing as needed expertise in advancing our A/B and multivariate experiment architecture, and playing a key role in the high value action (HVA) framework and data infrastructure that we’re building and launching in 2025. The ideal candidate will have domain experience in building data infrastructure, data schemas, data modeling, ML/AI models, and ideally some background in running experiments and building HVA frameworks. Bonus points for familiarity with subscription-based DTC businesses, OTT products, and/or SVOD and live event streaming services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as one of our technical leads for our Snowflake data infrastructure, data schemas, data modeling, and high value action infrastructure.
Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
Perform in-depth analysis of financial and operational data, identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies to provide meaningful insights and recommendations
Complete the full analytics lifecycle from understanding the business objective and understanding the data to developing automated reporting and visualizations
Act as a subject matter expert on internal/external data sources, ensuring anomalies are identified and addressed proactively.
Support the data product development for demand forecasting, partnering cross-functionally across Finance, Strategic Finance, Business Intelligence, Rights Acquisitions, Ad Sales, Content, Marketing, and Vertical GMs.
Partner on experiment design and conduct causal analyses to provide actionable insights that inform the demand forecasting model(s) and key business decisions.
Research, recommend, and learn new analytics tools and platforms
Automate existing manual processes and identify areas for further improvements
Serve as a thought leader for interactive demand forecasting dashboards that inform key stakeholders about the health drivers for historical performance and serve as a forward-looking evaluator of our programming strategy and execution.
Passion about growing Our Sports within the sports media industry and establishing a working knowledge of the key players and their events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
BA/BS in Mathematics/Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or other technical field, advanced analytics degrees preferred
5+ years of professional experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer, Data Engineer, Data Analyst or similar role, preferably in a SaaS or subscription-based business.
Oversees the entire process of a data project from concept, to requirements gathering, to production ready implementation. Led projects from concept through completion
Expert in SQL.
Strong background in Python (Excel is a plus), including statistical modeling; experience with data visualization tools, e.g., Tableau, Looker, Domo.
Deep understanding of statistical model building and data analyses, such as causal inference and regressions; expertise in numerical algorithms.
Experience with experiment design, implementation, analysis, and recommendation for actionable insights.
Strong analytical skills for problem solving; can perform descriptive and diagnostic analysis
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
Ability to use data to translate ambiguous problems into actionable solutions using dataAbility to find answers to ambiguous problems
Comfortable working with and querying large datasets, including datasets that some might describe as “messy”.
Experience forming effective cross-functional partnerships.
Analytical reasoning, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail for maintaining code and data integrity.
Proficiency in communication, particularly communicating complex data concepts, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
BONUS POINTS:
Built a large portion of a database, ideally a cloud-based database, from the ground up.
Experience developing demand forecasting models and/or working in demand planning functions, particularly within a SaaS, subscription, and/or e-commerce business.
Experience with Streamlit in Snowflake for turning data and ML models into interactive apps with Python.
Familiarity with cloud based analytics and CRM platforms (Salesforce) and data visualization tools (Domo).
