Vyopta is seeking a highly motivated and naturally curious Senior Data Engineer to join our growing company. As a member of the development team, the Senior Data Engineer will be exposed to all phases of software development and architecture. This individual will work on Vyopta’s data processing pipeline, data processing infrastructure, and internal APIs.
Our platform handles large streams of data ingested in real-time and handles hundreds of synchronous queries every day. Thus, we are seeking a results-oriented professional with a passion for data, real-time analytics, and continually learning and improving. Successful candidates should come from a strong data engineering or database development background.
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, testing, and deploying data processing infrastructure.
- Researching and assessing the viability of new processing and data storage technologies.
- Participating in design and code reviews.
Requirements
- B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or database development.
- Strong experience with SQL and RDBMS database systems.
- Effective analytical skills and an understanding of data structures.
- An understanding of distributed and cloud computing.
Nice to Haves
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, and Python.
- Experience with big data frameworks (i.e., Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark).
