Healthcare quality is declining and soaring costs are crushing American families and businesses. At Garner, we’ve developed a revolutionary approach to evaluating doctor performance and a unique incentive model that's reshaping the healthcare economy to ensure everyone can afford high quality care. By providing organizations relief from surging healthcare costs, we've experienced rapid adoption in the market and have more than doubled our revenue annually over the last 5 years, becoming the fastest growing company in our space. To support our continued growth, we're expanding our team by over 50% each year, seeking exceptional talent to shape our unique, award winning culture (for example, USA Today Top Workplaces 2025) designed to cultivate teamwork, trust, autonomy, exceptional results, and individual growth that creates an inflection point in your career.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Counsel to provide broad support for Garner's Legal team. First and foremost, our next Legal hire will be a smart, detail-oriented generalist, but experience in both commercial transactions and privacy / data use and governance is required. Experience with healthcare, health plans, or other employee benefits is a major plus, but is not required. This role reports to Garner’s Head of Legal.

This position is fully remote, can also be hybrid for candidates located in New York.

What you will do:
  • Independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including MSAs, business associate agreements, vendor agreements, data use agreements, partnership agreements, NDAs, and employment-related agreements.
  • Providing counsel on privacy and data protection-related matters, including compliance with applicable requirements and rules and practical risk management.
  • Working closely and collaboratively with other business functions and helping to advise on product development and features, internal operations and policies, and day-to-day issues and challenges impacting the company and our clients.
  • Liaising with external counsel, auditors, and other service providers.
  • Managing existing legal processes and operations and helping to develop new workflows as the company continues to scale.
  • Assisting with corporate maintenance, including board matters and financings.
What you will bring to the team:
  • 3+ years of experience. A mix of in-house (ideally at a high-growth healthcare, technology, or other regulated company) and law firm experience is preferred.
  • A J.D. from a U.S. law school and admitted to a state bar.
  • No fear of technical, financial, or data science concepts.
  • A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success.
  • Experience working in a rapidly-evolving startup environment.
  • Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements is required.
  • Data privacy / data use and governance experience is required.
  • Experience dealing with healthcare, health plans, or other employee benefits and related regulatory regimes is an added bonus.
  • A desire to support our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system.
Compensation Transparency:

The base salary range for this position is $210,000 - $240,000. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans, including but not limited to: flexible PTO, Medical/Dental/Vision plan options, 401(k) with company match, flexible spending accounts, Teladoc Health and more.
