Academy Sports + Outdoors’ Marketing Team is looking for a senior specialist to grow our owned channels in customer marketing. This role includes planning, forecast and coding for email and SMS campaigns. A successful candidate will leverage insights to recommend an overall plan to support a marketing brief, and drive efficiencies in email production, leveraging dynamic email templates and HTML.

Job Description:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required 

Work Experiences: 

  • 3-5 years of email marketing, email operations and web analytics marketing experience.  

  • 2-3 experience coding HTML emails with dynamic content 

  • ESP experience required 

  • Retail experience a plus 

Skills:  

  • Expertise in preparation of email marketing campaigns (inclusive of landing pages, HTML coding, etc.) 

  • Excellent analytic skills with the ability to use key tools to dive deep and provide analysis consistently on performance metrics 

  • Ability to create leadership level presentations and communicate with large groups as to the performance of the channel 

  • Computer skills: Adobe design products (Photoshop), Microsoft Office, Omniture/Adobe Analytics & other web analytics platforms expertise required. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, real-time environment 

  • Communication – excellent written, listening, verbal and e-mail skills 

  • Strong organizational skills to ensure critical timelines are met 

  • Strong presentation skills 

  • Detail-oriented with ability to deliver project deliverables with little supervision 

  • Ability to work flexible hours such as evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed 

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties 

  • Communication – effective listening, speaking, and writing 

Responsibilities:  

  • Build and optimize complex & personalized journeys  

  • Manage the review of analytics from ESP, Google Analytics and other applicable tools to provide insight on current campaigns and channel performance, and suggest improvements as needed  

  • Lead cross functional meetings to reach decisions on content and overall user experience 

  • Utilize email and SMS platform to build messages, segment lists and deploy marketing 

  • Optimize content, implement process improvements, etc. based on gathered empirical data 

  • Cultivate relationships with category merchandisers, the creative team, the analytics team, merchants, and marketing to ensure key sales drivers have the proper coverage 

  • Supports the Email & SMS Marketing Manager in the execution of strategic Email & SMS Marketing long term plans that integrate with organizational marketing initiatives 

  • Analyze trends, draws conclusions, and provides recommendations of content, subject line, aesthetic testing. 

  • Works closely with the category marketing, E-Commerce team and other key marketing teams to ensure online marketing efforts are obtaining an acceptable ROI. 

  • Creates research plan to identify strategic online marketing initiatives, keeps up with industry trends, and work with Digital Marketing to expand the Academy database. 

  • Drive engagement with proper audience segments as database grows. 

  • Develop a thorough understanding of and follow Academy’s policies, procedures, and safety rules 

  • Responsibilities may change; team member may be required to perform other tasks as assigned
