 Job Description 

Our UX Designers at Renaissance are responsible for bringing our mission to accelerate learning to life by empathizing with the needs and behaviors of students and educators and innovating solutions for them through design. The ideal candidate is an all-around designer with both interaction and visual design skills. 

In this role the UX Designer II: 

  • Partner with design, engineering and product management team members in the execution and delivery of successful products and services, using a customer-focused, iterative design process. 
  • Contributes to planning and estimating work and participates in broader work stream coordination and expectation setting. 
  • Create high quality deliverables and executes based on UX goals and priorities without prescriptive guidance or direction, managing his/her own work to a larger schedule. 
  • Leverage, foster and extend the use of established UX techniques, templates, presentations, and assets in the creation of UX analysis, solutions, and materials. 
  • Contribute to the adaptation of Renaissance UX tools, methodology, and software, and proposes new solutions or optimizes existing ones. 
  • Create opportunities to foster collaborative cross-discipline dynamics. Drives UX team delivery excellence, furthering internal and external UX influence and goals. 

Qualifications 

  • A degree in the study of Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related field, or equivalent project/portfolio experience. 
  • 4+ years of experience designing interactive experiences from discovery to execution in a web-based software environment and the ability to share prior design work examples. 
  • A thorough understanding of UX methodology and lifecycle across key channels and platforms. 
  • A passion for solving problems for educators and students.   

Technical Skills 

  • Strong expertise in common design software tools such as Figma (preferred) 
  • Deep understanding of design research methods to uncover customer insights. 
  • Demonstrable data visualization skills – translating large and complex data into highly consumable and intuitive workflows. 
  • Experience with resources such as component libraries, repositories, and internal communication tools. 
  • Familiarity with an Agile environment or juggling multiple projects, deadlines, teams and/or products.  

Bonus Points For: 

  • Experience in EdTech or K-12 Education. 
  • General awareness of technology mediums (Javascript, HTML/CSS, etc.) to facilitate productive collaboration with front-end engineers. 
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (Vue, React, etc.). 
  • Fluency in other languages, especially Spanish.

The below compensation range is based on national market data and may vary by experience and location. 

Salary Range
$74,700$102,750 USD
