Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced technical leader to manage our Virtual Infrastructure team, focusing on day-to-day operations, maintenance, and strategic planning for our VMware vSphere environments and other virtualization technologies. The successful candidate will be an expert in their field, responsible for developing advanced concepts, techniques, and standards, and providing technical guidance to the team. This role is critical to supporting key initiatives such as datacenter modernization and digital transformation.
Responsibilities include:
  • Spearhead the Virtual Infrastructure team, providing technical leadership and mentorship to a Tier 3 operations team, while ensuring the delivery of stable, secure, and high-performing virtualized environments, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and employee engagement.
  • Drive technical innovation and excellence by developing and implementing creative solutions to complex virtual infrastructure problems, while serving as a technical authority and external spokesperson for the organization on key matters related to virtual infrastructure strategy and direction.
  • Lead the development and implementation of virtual infrastructure modernization and expansion strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable key organizational initiatives, such as datacenter modernization and digital transformation.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on VMware vSphere environments, Hyper-V, and other virtualization technologies
  • Manage service roadmaps, service lifecycle management, and technical processes and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment by facilitating technical and group discussions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field plus 8 or more years related experience. Related technical experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Expert-level knowledge of VMware vSphere environments, Hyper-V, and other virtualization technologies in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of datacenter modernization and digital transformation initiatives
  • Proven experience as a technical leader in a virtual infrastructure management role

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience with implementation and auditing of DFARS, NIST, and CMMC compliance controls
  • Experience with technical project management
  • Previous success in developing standards, process improvement, and managing processes
  • Strong learning capacity for software tools and technologies
  • Preferred certifications include VCP-DTM, VCAP-DTM Deploy/Design, CCE-V, CCP-N
  • Extensive experience with Aria Suite (Automation, Operations, Logs, and Networks)

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118504 - $201457
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
