We are searching for a proven executive-level engineering leader to guide our global Site Reliability Engineering team. Our container-based infrastructure consists of thousands of servers running on multiple public cloud providers that host over 500,000 customer web sites, serving 4 billion requests every day, reaching 5% of the world’s population. The ideal candidate will have a software development background and a history of applying software engineering skills to infrastructure problems in an agile, fast-paced environment. THE DAY TO DAY

Responsibilities:

• Continuously improve WP Engine’s secure, performant, global infrastructure that supports 10’s of millions of end users.
• Build and grow a world-class SRE team that solves infrastructure problems with a software engineering mindset.
• Collaborate with the Finance team to predict, measure and optimize cloud infrastructure costs.
• Ensure the health and stability of the farm by proactive monitoring at each level of the stack.
• Manage relationships and negotiate pricing with our large-scale global infrastructure providers.
• Serve as an internal evangelist for quality, the SRE approach to operations and DevOps best practices and represent WP Engine externally at site reliability events.
• Advance the transparent incident management process to ensure rapid resolution of issues with clear communication to customers and internal stakeholders.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND PASSION

Required Skills:

• 10+ years managing software engineering and operations teams
• Experience managing complex, large-scale public cloud deployments that included international data centers
• Track record of architecting and implementing effective large scale monitoring solutions
• Experience in a Director-level role or higher at a company that experienced sustained hyper-growth
• Demonstrated history of continuous learning and ability to stay current with technology trends
• History of managing multi-million dollar vendor relationships and negotiating contracts
• Enviable track record of improving the working lives of co-workers on Customer Support and Customer Success teams
• Ability to manage outages and customer escalations and a history of rarely needing to use those skills
• Proven experience building and managing a world-class, global team of engineers (software, quality, site reliability, ops center)
• Understanding of common standards and certifications (e.g. ITIL, SOX, SOC, ISO, PCI) and integration of acquired companies are both strongly desired areas of experience
• This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Global Engineering
