Startups rely on their product teams for a whole lot more than just building innovative tech.

In addition to identifying and solving user needs, product teams are tasked with continuously monitoring and improving their company’s products while working with different departments to deliver solutions. If you’re a talented product person looking to spread your wings at a growing tech company, the following six companies are a great place to start looking.

 

 

The gig: Manager product management


What they do: athenahealth provides cloud-based services for electronic health records, revenue cycle management and medical billing, patient engagement, care coordination and population health management.


What you’d do: Working on the core services product management team means you will drive product design and deployment of product services for athenahealth’s clients, with the goal of enabling better care.


What you’ll need: You should have two to five years or product management experience and a keen understanding of the healthcare/healthcare IT environment.

 

 


The gig: Product manager


What they do: Spiceworks is a professional network that millions of IT professionals use to connect with one another and thousands of technology brands. The company simplifies how IT professionals discover, buy and manage more than $650 billion in technology products and services each year.


What you’d do: In this role, you will partner with UX and development to deliver new features and capabilities across Spiceworks to tailor user experiences based on content relevancy and user profile.


What you’ll need: You should have over five years of product management experience and a passion for understanding IT professionals and their behavior, particularly with regard to the use of websites.

 
 


The gig: Apparel production manager

What you’d do: As the APM, you'll ensure that bulk production meets its quality assurance and delivery by planning, scheduling, executing and directing production activities. Like having control? You'll have it.


What you’ll need: You should have three to five years of product experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 


The gig: Technical product manager

What you’ll need: You should have a four-year degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience. You should also have the ability to teach a 7th grade level class on credit scores, identity protection and data security.

 

The gig: Senior product manager

What you’d do: Reporting to the VP of Product, you will think strategically and build and execute against a product roadmap that delivers value to members and the business.

What you’ll need: You should have at least seven years of experience as a product manager working on user facing products. You should also have a proven track record of leading a product line in a global, fast-paced environment.

 


The gig: Product manager for mobile


What they do: Duo Security is a cloud-based access security provider protecting some of the world's fastest-growing and largest companies like Box, Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, Yelp and Zillow.


What you’d do: In this role, you will take Duo’s mobile applications to the next level. You will be responsible for building highly usable workflows for administrators and end-users, collaborating with various stakeholders from engineering, design, customer success, sales and senior management on a regular basis.


What you’ll need: A background in network security, and an understanding of the problems IT Administrators face is a plus. You should also have a well-rounded knowledge of mobile application ecosystems, including iOS, Android and Windows.
