CognitiveScale is looking for an Accounting Specialist who will be instrumental to the success of our finance team as we continue to grow.
This position will be responsible for:
- Managing and executing payroll for all employees
- Classifying and ensuring appropriate approval for all vendor invoices before payment
- Reviewing employee expense reports for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately
- Assisting with month end close processes
- Working on other special projects as needed
We are looking for someone with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adhere to deadlines. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of payroll and accounts payable experience. This role reports to the Controller.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- ability to suggest and implement new procedures
- manage payroll tax reporting for multiple states
- review and verify invoices and check requests
- sort, code and match invoices
- set invoices up for payment
- enter and upload invoices into system
- track expenses and process expense reports
- post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records
- reconcile accounts payable transactions
- prepare analysis of accounts
- monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
- research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- maintain vendor files
- correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
- produce monthly reports
- assist with month end closing
- provide supporting documentation for audits
- payroll data entry and processing
Education and Experience
- full payroll management, including processing
- accounts payable
- general accounting procedures
- relevant accounting software
- proficient in data entry and management
- 5+ years accounts payable or general accounting experience
- software company experience preferred but not required
- Previous experience with Ameriflex Workforce payroll system and Intacct accounting system a plus
