Job Description

Visa Global Design is looking for an Associate Content Designer to join our team. We are a diverse group of content creators, storytellers, strategists and design and payments enthusiasts who believe content is the connective tissue between our products, our brand and our users. The Associate Content Designer will help establish content strategy, contribute to scoping content projects, design content, perform UX writing, review content to boost consistency and quality and publish content alongside team members and teams across Visa. Core to this role is collaborating with cross-functional members of our team such as designers, developers, product managers and other subject matter experts to create clear language that is active, readable and human. The Associate Content Designer will operate as an individual contributor. They will contribute to strengthening our content design presence at Visa by working across product teams to optimize product and user experiences, as well as drive revenue through improved content. The ideal candidate has formidable writing skills, abstract and critical thinking skills, and a nuanced understanding of design and product user experiences. The candidate must be a reliable, clear communicator who enjoys both working with established practices and forging new ones to co-create holistic B2B2C experiences.


Role responsibilities include:

  • Follow content best practices and contribute content standards to Visa’s design system for use cases where none exist.

  • Establish content strategy during project planning in support of team leadership and work within the established scope to ensure timely delivery to market.

  • Participate in content design to create and uphold consistency across experiences

  • Possess knowledge of how to define scalable structures like content models and templates, develop information architecture, and tell stories with wireframes and user flows

  • Perform UX writing to develop meaningful messages that support usability metrics, like user task completion, and help users meet their goals.

  • Review and critique content to boost quality assurance and ensure content strategy and standards are met in practice.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members across Design, Development and Product, and work with Brand, Marketing, Communications and others as needed.

  • Leverage design research to make informed design decisions while retaining a spirit of critique, creativity and ad-hoc collaboration when needed.

  • Design content with users and humans at the forefront.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
-Minimum of 6 months of work experience or a Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications
-2 or more years of work experience
-Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design, Communication, English, Marketing, HCI or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in related field
-Knowledge of human-centered design principles and the role content should play within a product design org
-Experience working in content contexts with knowledge of design and design thinking preferred
-Informed on content strategy, content design and user experience practices across the industry and apply them to the work
-Regularly seek project feedback and insight from supervisor, collaborators and stakeholders
-Ability to translate complex concepts into clear content that is active, readable and human
-An understanding of the business goals behind content and content strategies
-An understanding of user experience and content optimization principles across channels and devices
-A desire to lead through contribution and providing deep subject matter expertise in content
-Strong verbal and written communication skills, including thorough and methodical attention to detail
-Strong reading comprehension skills and understanding of nuance
-Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities
-Fully fluent in English and able to understand and be easily understood in English
-Ability to communicate concepts and recommendations confidently to a variety of audiences
-Ability to self-manage time and work independently or as part of a team
-Support our growing content design practice
-Payment industry experience preferred, but not required
-Portfolio of relevant work samples required

Additional Information

Work Authorization: Permanent Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment for this position. Visa will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 79,000.00 to 111,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
