The Editorial Copywriter will report to the Creative Director in Austin, TX and will be responsible for playing a critical role in the ideation, storytelling, and copywriting of YETI’s best-in-class marketing. We are looking for a versatile writer who can maneuver between writing longform stories, but also bringing a story or campaign to life through succinct and hardworking email and marketing communications across multiple channels. This is essentially the decathlon of writing.

A successful candidate will have a portfolio showing compelling stories of any length, as well as proven chops for writing product copy, headlines, and integrating messaging from a campaign across multiple marketing touchpoints (email, site, social). This candidate should have a deep understanding of messaging strategy and consider crafting language to fit different outputs to be a puzzle that brings joy. The ideal candidate is obsessed with diction and has a knack for grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and non-formulaic writing.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver quality, detail-oriented, and interesting stories, long and short
  • Brainstorm, concept, and present stories and copy campaign support
  • Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team
  • Be a team player. Receive ideas and feedback from anywhere openly
  • Collaborate with designers and photo producers to deliver work
  • Be able to work on tight timelines and multiple projects concurrently
  • Represent the YETI brand in interviews and conversations with key characters and ambassadors
  • This position may require travel on occasion for a story

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in an advertising or in-house creative role; experience with consumer product brands is preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in storytelling in copywriting and narrative journalism
  • Outdoor experience preferred
  • Experience in both print and digital marketing/advertising
  • Mastery of written communication, both short- and long-form
  • Demonstrated ability for delivering the appropriate tone
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to solve problems, even when they are not fully defined
  • Ability to present and sell creative ideas
  • An exceptional portfolio website
  • Optimistic, energetic, and possesses the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively juggle different writing demands


US Workplace Approach:

  • Onsite: Role requires you to be onsite full-time.
  • Hybrid: Role requires you to be located in Austin, Texas and is a mixture of onsite and remote.
  • Remote: Role is full-time remote.
