FloSports is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Warehouse Development team in the fast-paced and exciting world of sports media. FloSports, headquartered in Austin, Texas, operates a fast-growing network of dedicated sports sites.

 As a Data Engineer at FloSports, you’ll be a part of the Data & Analytics team, helping us leverage our rich and interesting dataset to make smarter decisions. You will develop, optimize and own the ETL pipelines, interface with various SQL databases and Web Service APIs. Your data solutions will support the insights and analysis critical for all our decision making needs whether it’s related to product design, driving subscriber conversion and retention, or helping users discover more great content. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build and launch extremely efficient & reliable ETL process (using Python, AWS and Redshift) to integrate data sources from internal and external data providers into the FloSports Data Warehouse
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across different business units to design, implement and deliver insightful analytic solutions.
  • Have a clear understanding of the reports/analyses/insights to be driven by data and build data solutions to optimally support the analytics needs
  • Develop a framework for data quality and outlier detection
  • Work with product owner, data analysts and other engineers to develop and prioritize project plans

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-5 years of data engineering experience
  • History of building, maintaining and automating reliable and efficient ETL jobs
  • An extremely solid foundation in complex SQL programming and ability to create and tune queries.
  • Experience developing with object-oriented programming using Python
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses like Amazon Redshift or Google BigQuery
  • Experience with database administration skills is preferred
  • Ability to create and optimize Jenkins workflows for data extraction is preferred
  • Attention to detail with excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Be comfortable in a results-driven, highly accountable environment where you can make a clear impact
  • A team player, who listens effectively and invites response and discussion
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

BONUS

  • Experience with Data Migrations is a huge plus
  • Worked with Data Sources/Analytics such as Segment.com, Payment Data (e.g. Stripe), Event Tracking (Kissmetrics, Mixpanel, etc).
  • Experience working with Javascript
