FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Responsibilities

• Manage the day to day accounting operations with a small team
• Own and optimize the general ledger and reporting infrastructure
• Analyze budget vs. actual performance and explain variances
• Design and deliver management reporting to drive better decision making
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
• Manage and comply with all government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls without creating bureaucracy
• Work closely with the leadership team on key initiatives of the business
• Use financial analyses to uncover opportunities for financial optimization

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Controller with 7+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Extensive experience creating financial statements, including consolidated financial statements
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
• B.S./B.A. degree in Accounting preferred
• Prior experience with Netsuite preferred
• Prior start-up company experience preferred
• CPA preferred
• Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred
