The role will serve as the steward of service quality within FloSports. This is a highly technical role. Primary job functions include provisioning live streams, troubleshooting performance issues, and continually improving viewer experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage video delivery across the platform, while optimizing KPIs of customer experience.
- Provision infrastructure in support of live streams.
- Manage CPU, GPU and network capacity of origin servers.
- Assist production leads with audio and video quality checks.
- Evaluate network performance between sites and select ingestion points with optimal routing, minimal packet loss and minimal jitter.
- Evaluate and select products to be used in support of monitoring and measuring quality of service KPIs and troubleshooting efforts.
- Interface with Customer Support regarding live streaming events and the scalability and quality of service delivered by the supporting infrastructure.
- Perform analysis, diagnosis and resolution of video encoding/transcoding hardware/software issues and implement corrective solutions for live systems.
- Configure, develop, test and implement appropriate codec settings for live video streaming.
- Consult and help implement new video services and/or products in furthering the evolution of the streaming ecosystem with a focus on quality of service, high availability, and scalability.
- Perform periodic trend analysis on service impairment, outages, and customer support history.
- Interface with CND, OVP and other video delivery partners to optimize performance and minimize downtime and service impairment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be self-motivated, detail oriented with strong communication skills.
- Continually develop and expand video streaming and media workflow experience and in-depth knowledge, and understanding of all streaming technologies.
- Knowledge of encoding standards (H.264, AAC, profiles, bit-rates, aspect ratios)
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, and wireless.
- Mastery of networking such as ping, traceroute, and arp.
- Solid troubleshooting experience is a MUST. (Linux/Networking/Application Level.)
- Up to date with current and forthcoming streaming media technologies, i.e. H.264 RTMP, HLS, AAC, HTTP.
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services.
- Knowledge of streaming providers and related vendors: CDN’s, Cloud Providers, OVP's, Encoding Hardware, etc.
