Senior Accountant

What’s the opportunity?

You will be responsible for performing mission-critical accounting operations of the company including monthly close, analysis, production of company financial information, and support of external and internal audits.

Essential Functions

- Manage AP, AR, and daily transaction accounting for company finance and company lending operations.

- Perform month-end close. Reconcile and review general ledger accounts to various sub-ledger and treasury system data. Prepare correcting entries. Posts accruals monthly, quarterly, and yearly.

- Prepare monthly financial statements. Be a key member of the company’s Finance Committee; communicate with and assist management with the compilation and presentation of required internal reporting requirements for areas of responsibility

- Ensures timely completion of compliance and reporting requirements. Provide support to external and internal auditors, as needed, including acting as key liaison for external year-end, etc.

Other Potential Responsibilities

- Perform technical research, interpret accounting pronouncements and SEC requirements to determine and document appropriate accounting treatment and related disclosures. Keep abreast of all new accounting rules and evaluates applicability to the company.

- Act as a liaison to other internal groups on reviews for recurring reporting and compliance requirements, etc.

- Identifies ways to promote efficiency within the financial reporting process to implement and/or incorporate best practices.

- Complete UCC filings, as needed

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, BA or related field

- CPA certification or similar professional certification preferred

- Five (5) + years previous experience in Accounting, Finance or Treasury departments of a Consumer Finance company a must. Consumer or student loan experience preferred

- Advanced proficiency with certain PC applications (Microsoft Word / Excel/ Outlook / PowerPoint), including knowledge, development and use of vlookups, pivot tables, IRR, NPV and other formula functions, etc.

- Public Accounting experience preferred

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines

- Ability to multi-task several projects/initiatives simultaneously with minimal supervision

- Ability to extract, analyze and process data to present summary information used in various analysis

- Ability to reconcile system transactions to cash receipts to ensure cash appropriately accounted for

- Strong analytical skills

- Ability to maintain confidentiality
