Civitas Learning is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer who will drive quality from the beginning of the software development cycle, and help reduce manual regression test efforts for legacy systems through test automation. You are a highly-effective engineer who can challenge and mentor both software developers and quality analysts in software quality practices and tools. You will help research and recommend methods and technologies the team can leverage to ensure software quality, efficient delivery, and consistent coverage. You have the knowledge, experience, and interpersonal skills to help engineering teams identify, evaluate and mitigate risks throughout the process of design, implementation, delivery and maintenance. You understand both the concepts and details of Java development well enough to participate effectively in code reviews.
You will work directly with the Data Platform team to design, develop, and deliver industry-leading big data pipeline systems at the core of Civitas Learning’s product suite. In addition, you will mentor and assist a team of Data Quality Analysts in improving and automating a manual test process for existing software.
Requisite Skills and Experience

Requisite Skills and Experience
- Expertise in design, planning and development of continuous testing throughout the software development lifecycle
- Fluency in integration test and regression test methodologies and tools at the API and UI level
- Fluency in Java, SQL
- Familiarity with web service (e.g. ReST, SOAP) and language-specific APIs
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks (e.g. TestNG, Rspec, Cucumber, Selenium)
- Demonstrated mentorship and leadership skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with cloud hosting environments (e.g. AWS)
- Experience with performance test methodologies and tools (e.g. jmeter, jvisualvm, YourKit)
- Experience validating application security in a regulatory environment
Qualifications
- BS degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent.
- 5 years experience in software quality engineering and test automation.
