The next phase of our company is to delve deeper into being the primary fintech provider for settlement companies in the U.S. which is a $2.5B addressable market.
Closinglock is seeking an innovative and experienced Vice President of Engineering to help lead the Engineering team through the next phase of growth and technology expansion. This is a new position for an entrepreneurial and empathetic leader where you will be expected to grow the existing team and have a significant impact as part of the Product Delivery team.
Reporting to the C-suite, the VP of Engineering will play a pivotal role in driving the technical direction, innovation, and scalability of the Closinglock Platforms. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering market-leading innovation at scale in leading SaaS products, growing high-caliber teams, and driving meaningful outcomes for the business.

VP, Engineering Responsibilities
The VP of Engineering will serve as a critical force within our leadership structure, managing the engineering team, aligning technology strategies with business objectives, and ensuring the seamless execution of engineering objectives.
This leader should be innovative in finding solutions to unify and optimize the specializations where appropriate. This position requires a deep understanding of software engineering, design systems, technical expertise, and developer experience, as well as strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
To be successful, you will need to work closely with product management and other business leaders and help drive our technical excellence to new heights with consideration for quality, compliance, security, reliability at scale, and performance.

  • Hire, grow, and lead a world-class engineering team as a magnet for hiring and developing great talent.
  • Lead, inspire, and manage a high-performing engineering team of 25+ individuals, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Retain top engineers, delegate assignments, motivate employees, review their performance and goals, and provide ongoing professional development.
  • Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle of the platform, ensuring efficient delivery, technical excellence, and adaptability to their evolving needs.
  • Be a carrier and role model of our culture of high performance and innovation.
  • Have a passion for continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices, processes, and tools to optimize development efficiency, quality, and scalability, while accommodating the unique challenges and opportunities of a start-up environment.
  • Drive foundational technical architecture that will enable our products to deliver groundbreaking solutions with the simplicity of experience at scale.
  • Implement and champion security best practices across the engineering organization to safeguard our products and customer data.
  • Champion strong fundamentals (reliability, resiliency, data privacy, security, compliance)
  • Be responsible for several V1 initiatives to enhance and unlock new use cases for our customers.
  • Be responsible for delivering products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt.
  • Dive deep into technology and are at the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies and help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team.
  • Be an expert at agile continuous delivery, DevOps, and TDD/BDD, and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high-quality development environment.
  • Provide coaching and leadership in modern software development best practices.
  • Research and leverage technologies and products that would benefit the company.
  • Provide input into the strategic direction of the company and products.
  • Provide input on the product development roadmap.
  • Provide input on financial forecasting.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to ensure seamless integration and delivery.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of combined software development & management experience across multiple languages and frameworks or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on software development or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years managing software organizations with over 15+ people or equivalent experience.
  • A demonstrated track record of successfully leading engineering teams and achieving measurable results.
  • Experience developing and driving engineering products, processes, and systems; ability to direct technical development efforts; ability to analyze processes, capabilities, and requirements.
  • Strong architectural insights with critical thinking.
  • Strong bias for action and driving for results.
  • Proven ability to create highly scalable software.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively and flexibly with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to work with C-level internally and externally
  • Concrete examples of how your leadership has positively influenced previous organizations.
  • Expertise in implementing and promoting security best practices.
  • A demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it.
  • Knowledge and experience in high-scale, highly available (99.99+) Cloud services.
  • Prior experience with full-stack cloud services development is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a SaaS company, with a track record of launching V1 products and scaling V1 products with rapid customer growth is highly desirable.
  • FinTech or Payment experience and experience dealing with sensitive data is nice to have.



Job Designation
