Accountant

Responsibilities:
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and other reports
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement and present financial reports to management and stakeholders, providing valuable insights and recommendations
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Assist with budget development, financial forecasting, annual tax filings and audit process, and month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, tax regulations, and industry standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support provide financial guidance and analysis to aid in business planning and strategic decision-making
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 1 year experience at a public accounting firm or alternatively 2 years industry experience as an Accountant, preferably with specific exposure to fintech or technology startups
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP
- Proficiency in Excel and Sage Intacct
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience at a public accounting firm or alternatively 3+ years industry experience as an Accountant or Staff Accountant
- Experience with specific database systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Work Environment:
- The candidate in this position will be primarily located in an office environment and be exposed to lighting, temperature, and noise level conditions typical of that environment
- This position is primarily in-person, with an expectation of in-person work at the physical office location in Austin, Texas but will be considered for a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in-office)

Salary:
- $70,000-$90,000, DOE
