An Insider's view of BlackLocus

What's something quirky about your company?

Within my first few weeks at BlackLocus I was able to see that there’s a community for any interest I may have, e.g., reading, travel, running, volunteering. We all spend a lot of time at work and I feel lucky that I can work at a place that values me as not only a technical professional but also as a person with a multitude of varied interests.

Software Engineer

What projects are you most excited about?

BlackLocus is part of The Home Depot, a retail business. We use clever approaches in data analytics to dream up novel solutions to address age-old retail concerns like pricing, delivery, and assortment at a massive scale. Each new project aims to help drive day-to-day retail decisions and make a major impact in revenue performance.

Crandall Chow

Technical Lead

How does the company support your career growth?

We have so many excellent company resources at our fingertips -- defined growth paths, mentorship programs, courses -- though some of my biggest learnings have come from our informal peer to peer 'teach me something' sessions. That's one of my favorite ways we retain our homegrown, communal culture within a larger organization.

Senior Manager, Product & Program Ops

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

My job is to enable all of BlackLocus to do great work! That means being an advocate for and getting to know everyone. For me, that looks like participating in other team’s meetings and finding opportunities for ME to make their work lives better. If you visit our office, come find me in the 8th-floor living room!

Director of Product

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

In our trust-based environment, balance is crucial to the mental health of our team, which is more important than ever. BL provides 5 weeks PTO for our team, with additional time off as an option. We are adamant that you're able to attend recitals, appointments, or take an afternoon walk without worrying about work. That message or email can wait!
