ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Creative Director is the guardian of the Bright Health brand image. Responsible for setting brand guidelines that establish the look, feel and voice of the brand across all mediums, this individual is accountable for driving brand standards that reflect a strong representation/extension of the Bright Health brand, business objectives and audience strategy(s). The Creative Director provides a comprehensive vision for the brand, bringing a consistent look and feel across all executions with the creative ability to transform fresh ideas into actionable concepts. A key component of success in this role will be building creative request process visibility, best practices and agility with stakeholders across Bright Health critical to support company initiatives – for the consumer and beyond. In close partnership with the Chief Consumer Officer, this individual is responsible for the brand’s visual strategy, creative services teams (internal and external), creative resource management, internal/external brand voice and creative budgets. As the member of a key leadership Consumer Brand team at Bright Health, the Creative Director shall act as the brand champion and enforcer of Bright Health look and feel.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for leading the branding strategy and creative concepts of all Bright Health formats/channels/mediums.
  • Continue to develop, strengthen and oversee the execution of a unique and compelling Bright Health voice and brand proposition that is relevant to our target customer(s)/audience(s).
  • Work collaboratively across the Consumer team to ensure a best-foot forward brand execution (design and UX) commensurate with company and brand targets across all mediums (offline and online).
  • Monitor market and creative trends to ensure the appropriate level of innovation and relevancy for our various audience(s) key to keeping the brand fresh; drives creative innovation initiatives necessary to ensure a thriving Bright Health brand required to deliver on both the corporate and financial objectives.
  • Ensure the Bright Health brand DNA is reflected in:
  • All marketing, including, but not limited to, direct mail, email, social media and digital advertising;
  • Go-to-market marketing advertising and materials;
  • Digital Platforms, across all mediums;
  • Operational materials;
  • Corporate materials;
  • Internal/corporate branding and communication.
  • Lead the creation and production of design, content and campaigns that build the brand and drive the retention of loyal customers and the addition of new customers.
  • Hire and manage the internal and external talent required to deliver the strategy for optimizing Bright Health’s creative execution across all channels and teams, including but not limited to product marketing, advertising, content, digital properties and hr/hiring; Prioritize work and resources across projects based on short- and long-term need while adjusting to resource and timeline changes.
  • Develop creative services priorities that reflect the collaborative, cross-functional brand, growth and partnership objectives; specifically optimize creative services SOPs across the company to support the evolving, cross-functional creative resource demands of a high growth business.
  • Ensure research, concept and design deliverables are of the highest quality and deliver maximum value to internal clients.
  • Build a creative asset management and optimization capability, including acting as a key strategic partner across technology and design teams to build the systems required to optimally support cross-platform needs.
  • Build a supportive culture inside the creative team that enables designers and writers at all levels to maximize their own growth and contribution.
  • Plan for and report against the creative services budgets.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; original training as a designer is preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of progressive experience building a world class creative services team, leading teams and building successful project outcomes, ideally for a consumer brand; digital design track record (and bias) is required.
  • Healthcare technology experience a plus; a blend of healthcare and consumer experience is required.
  • A blend of agency and brand experience inclusive of account management of various creative resources to deliver successful multi-media, cross-platform campaigns is highly desired.
  • A proven track record of strategic and tactical capabilities in both growth and scale enterprises is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry trends and creative tools; mastery of the fundamentals of modern creative design leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated success in traditional and innovative campaigns across the broad spectrum of today’s marketing channels that ensures research, concept and design deliverables are of the highest quality and deliver maximum value.
  • A strong, relevant design portfolio of work that will set an example to energize those around you.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Xd), Microsoft PowerPoint and Mac Keynote. Familiarity with Sketch, design systems and light coding experience a plus.

  • Well-honed creative, project and budget management skills.
  • Ability to distill and navigate complex concepts into simple, audience-friendly communications, internal and external.
  • Ability to inspire creativity and lead a talented team as a coach-player; we need someone who is confident in everything from team building and mentoring to guiding large groups of internal and external creative talent.
  • Deep connection into the design community and can bring a talent network.
  • Ability to manage change while improving performance; ability to work in partnership to achieve results.
  • Aptitude for managing the orchestration and synchronization required of highly matrixed, rapidly evolving business; ability to juggle disparate work across different mediums and customer types on a regular basis.
  • A curiosity, humility and willingness to learn as much as to teach, along with the confidence to advocate.
