Role: Instructional Designer (Contract to Hire)
Location: Austin, TX
Reports To: Senior Manager of Training

We’re seeking an amazing Instructional Designer to help significantly build, organize and modernize our learning content.
About This Role
In this critical and highly visible role, you’ll be responsible for creating engaging learning content for our insurance operations. This includes working with subject matter experts to identify training needs in the Sales, Service and Claims departments. You may be asked to wear multiple hats, playing the role of, innovator, researcher, and developer. This is a 6 month contract position.

Responsibilities:
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content
- Work with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs
- Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
- Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
- Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
- Maintain project documentation and course folders
Requirements:
- Previous working experience in instructional design
- In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills
- Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, Powerpoint)
- Video editing experience (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Camtasia)
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
- Experience in insurance is preferred but not required
- Self-motivated and directed; ability to collaborate is a must, but you will be autonomous and expected to succeed without heavy direction
