Responsible for the design and file creation of packages for Whole Foods Market exclusive brands within a highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment.

Core Responsibilities:

• Create packaging layouts for food, supplements and other consumer goods within Whole Foods Market’s collection of exclusive brands using established brand guidelines and direction from the art director and sr. team leader
• Design packages that both surprise and delight customers while also clearly communicating important attributes. Collaborate with project managers to find elegant and compliant design solutions for all FDA required information
• Plan, coordinate, and art direct photo shoots. Create detailed shot lists incorporating content from the food/recipe editor with any product or package design related direction. Collaborate with and lead photographers and food stylists on set
• Accurately complete extensive mechanical revisions to design files for product packaging
• Collaborate with print production specialists to optimize designs for various printing processes
• Prepare printer-ready art files for prepress house and/or printer and communicate release of files to appropriate parties
• Work closely with print production specialist and project manager to communicate and resolve any printing issues
• Ensure working design files and support art files are current and properly archived upon project completion
• Play an active role in creative team training and process improvements in a collaborative work environment
• Provide clear direction and constructive feedback to the production art team as needed

Must Have/Be:

• A portfolio demonstrating a thorough understanding of layout, typography and color
• Thorough understanding of dielines, printing processes and ink stations
• Vector illustration skills and/or the ability to plan illustrated layouts using wire-frames
• Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
• Excellent listening skills, attention to detail and ability to interpret and incorporate detailed feedback on food packaging
• Clear and effective communication skills
• A team player willing to jump into any phase of the packaging design process or assist other team members as needed 
• Ability to take constructive criticism and change direction when needed
• Flexibility to adapt to timeline developments and reprioritize when needed
• Well organized and willing to building and save files consistent to the team methods
• Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design or similar curriculum, 3+ years of experience
• Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Acrobat
• Knowledge / familiarity with food and/or other packaging a plus
• This is a full-time, salaried position based in Austin, Texas
