Senior Instructional Designer
Determines and implements appropriate learning solutions to address Team Leader and Team Member development needs; liaises with other training and development leads and TMS leadership to support specific learning initiatives. Works with WFM leadership and TMS sub-teams to develop both broad and targeted communications, supporting company mission, values and initiatives.Responsibilities
- Work closely with TMS leadership to identify team objectives and comprehensive developmental offerings aligned to WFM and TMS strategic initiatives.
- Consult with Global and Regional TMS teams to provide support in translating team goals into specific training/developmental products and services or identify systems and/or materials needed to support initiatives.
- Write and evaluate learning objectives to determine which delivery methods best support company Core Values and business objectives that have measurable outcomes.
- Develop content for multiple delivery platforms (including digital and print), methodologies (including self-directed, facilitator-led, and small group learning), and audiences (including learners, trainers, and executives).
- Synthesize information from multiple, diverse stakeholder groups into cohesive, unified learning experiences aligning to learning objectives and drive behavioral change.
- Write clear, cohesive content and quickly build iterative prototypes, incorporating multiple rounds of stakeholder and SME feedback to improve the experience.
- Develop recommendations for changes and improvements to Learning & Development processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives and culture.
- Collaborate with Regions to leverage best-in-class training materials and opportunities.
- Research and develop material for best-in-class training programs using a multi-media approach for Global Support Team Members and Team Leaders; develop supplemental materials (including training aids, hand-outs and evaluation forms).
- Review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs; recommend appropriate changes.
- Develop pilots for new programs and measurement of all programs.
- Review, evaluate and make recommendations for external training opportunities and off-the-shelf courseware.
- Create continuous feedback loops (to include regions) regarding programs and materials.
- Facilitate meetings; train others to deliver courses.
- Provide program support during rollout and post-rollout to ensure learning application.
- Serve as a strategic partner to support the consistency and quality of learning experiences.
- Build and nurture business relationships vital to project success.
- Track high-level deliverables across projects and ensure deadlines are met on time.
- Work and contribute in a collaborative, team-oriented manner.
- Manage translation services as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience and at least 4 years of instructional design/L&D experience; project management, rapid content development/course authoring software, and grocery/retail experience preferred
- Expert-level instructional design skill and ability in developing behavior-based and action-oriented learning experiences
- Ability to apply foundational learning theories, principles of adult learning, cognitive science, learning sciences, human-centered design, and instructional design principles
- Skilled in providing problem analyses and solutions in a creative and logical manner
- Dynamic presentation and facilitation skills; experience in large-group training environments
- Ability to control a group and to facilitate leadership training sessions
- Ability to focus on performance improvement skills for program participants
- Ability to evaluate learning impact using a systematic method for gathering, analyzing, and reporting on information about the effectiveness of learning programs
- Skilled in creating data collection tools such as surveys and structured interviews
- Exceptional verbal, oral, and written communication skills; proven ability to translate complex information
- Ability to work independently
