We'd like to change the world and were hoping you might join us!

At Wellsmith, we are on a mission to eradicate lifestyle diseases (like diabetes) by creating awesome products that help humans make decisions and establish habits that are healthy.

Our design team is crafting engaging experiences (consumer mobile apps, health provider portals) to make behavior change simple, memorable and actionable. As a user researcher, you get to use your observational super powers and work directly with end users to identify what is (and isn't) working with our design concepts, prototypes and product in the wild. We have a huge vision for the future of healthcare and your research insights are critical to achieving it!

Your Challenge, should you choose to accept it:

  • Within the first 3 weeks of starting the job, you will run your first onsite or remote usability study of the product with real users using a screener and protocol that you have crafted.
  • You will take point as the primary owner of user personas and create a plan to develop them
  • You will create and present research deliverables (including survey results and test findings) on-time per agreed-upon commitments for review with the appropriate stakeholders.

Your Super Powers

  • X-Ray Vision. You will need to see what the rest of us don't. You are capable of observing things that lie below the surface and know how to probe deeply to find insights from our users.
  • Empathy. You are empathetic and truly care for the individuals who use the products that we are building at Wellsmith.
  • Communication. You clearly communicate your ideas to peers, supervisors and project stakeholders.
  • Flexibility / adaptability. Because the practice of user research is continuously evolving, you are flexible and adapt your approach to the craft as needed.
  • Work ethic / initiative / accountability. You prioritize tasks, work independently, and take total ownership of your work.

Your Toolbox of Gadgets

  • Familiarity and experience with how user researchers work with UX designers, product and engineering team members
  • Proficiency with research tools for conducting surveys (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Optimal Sort)
  • Proficiency with software needed to run remote/in-person usability sessions (e.g., Lookback, UserTesting.com) and knowledge of basic hardware setups for testing
  • Ability to crunch data from research (e.g., Excel, Sheets) and generate insights (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides) to be shared with the rest of the team

This is a contract position but with the possibility of converting to full time. It will be a minimum of 30/hr week for 3 months. The role and fit of the individual will be evaluated after the 3 month period.
