You will be our first UX Researcher who will collaborate with our Product Designers, Product Managers, and the rest of the community to assist in determining what features should be built, how they should behave, and what the priorities should be. You’ll be an important member of an international team who actively supports one another and loves to solve problems.

What You’ll Be Doing

Partner: As a UX Researcher on the UX Team, you'll explore behaviors and motivations by conducting research, using interviews, diary studies, participatory design, usability testing, and more. By applying deep research expertise across a wide range of approaches, you'll develop an understanding of the user that will impact design across a variety of products. You’ll work closely with designers, product managers, product owners, and others throughout Fourth, to investigate, uncover and understand our end-users so we can craft solutions for the people that keep your favorite hospitality businesses humming.

Craft: You will help define and own our research strategy and practices, ensuring that they reinforce our connection with the people who rely on our products. Your research will support the goals of our product teams, the broader product vision, and company objectives. You’ll provide actionable and meaningful data-driven insights that represent the voice of multiple users. The space we work in is deep, so you’ll learn and design for a wide array of customer needs, contexts, and challenges.

Unify:  You’ll be instrumental as you help us define and shape our internal research practices. You love to collaborate and are excited to share responsibility for ensuring quality research from our team, through setting standards, leading by example, reviewing research plans and execution, and educating yourself as well as the team on new or best practices.

Grow: We’ll partner to help you move up your chosen career path. The Branching Career Path lays out how we view growth opportunities for people on our team if you’re curious.

What We’re Looking For

The Fourth UX team needs a UX Researcher who cares deeply about creating an experience-first culture. We are looking for a researcher experienced in applying multiple qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, for both generative and evaluative research in order to improve product definition, UX and drive business goals.

We expect you to challenge yourself and the team with questions that provide missing perspectives and to continually iterate and improve your own practices and processes.

- You must have 2-3 years of related work experience

- You can provide past work examples of leading strategic research with business outcomes as well as putting together long-term research plans (does not need to be a portfolio, just the ability to share past work through discussions and with shareable examples.)

- You are able to translate business questions to key research objectives, leveraging the best methodology to execute research and to synthesize and analyze findings

- You will design and execute end-to-end custom primary research using a wide arrow of mixed-method research methodologies, and interpret analysis through the lens of business impact, UX, and HCI

- You have the ability to explain the metric analysis and analytical decisions clearly and persuasively  including the ability to visualize data in unique ways, present evidence, and make recommendations to a variety of audiences

- You’ll own strategic research efforts across several product areas and generate insights that shape how product teams think about medium and long-term product strategy

- You know how to deliver and receive constructive criticism, and while you have opinions, you leave your ego at the door.

- You’re curious. You continually iterate and improve your skills, and processes, and you like to help the rest of your team level up.

Bonus Points

- Your past work experience includes established, heavily trafficked applications with a diverse set of user personas and archetypes

- You have helped build/establish a research program or repository in the past

- You possess the ability to justify research ROI to business partners

- You can effectively manage and prioritize research plans through ambiguous and fast-changing environments
