UX/UI Web Designer (Portal)
We are seeking a talented user-experience (UX) and user interface (UI) designer to join our creative team in Austin, Texas. We love to tackle tough challenges and are looking for someone to hit the ground running on current and new design projects.
As a part of our design team, the UX / UI Designer will create and define highly engaging user-experiences and work closely with our engineering teams to drive projects through to fulfillment. We’re looking for someone who values pixel-perfect UI and thoughtful user experiences.
The ideal candidate will have a stunning portfolio of various works, with an emphasis on graphic and web UI / UX design. He / she will be a problem solver who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys working with team members and takes ownership of the work they are creating.
Responsibilities:
- Design portal and web experiences
- Develop and maintain web/portal architecture map as well as high fidelity wireframes
- Create pixel perfect Photoshop / Illustrator visual designs
- Construct and drive product-wide style guides
- Storyboard / prototype web experiences
- Assist in making decisions on features and functionality
- Consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to self-manage
Deliverables change on a project-by-project basis, but may also include elements such as:
- Site maps
- Task analysis
- Mapping to personas
- User / System flows
- Workflow analysis
- Storyboards
- Content mapping
- Paper or interactive prototypes
- Usability testing
Qualifications:
- Able to work full-time hours at Phunware’s Austin office
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Able to present and explain your designs and design thought process to a team
- Consistent track record for delivering commitments on time, with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of Adobe CS and page layout
- Understanding of user stories and previous experience with Jira
- Knowledge of current web and UX trends
- Ability to take loose sketched ideas and develop sophisticated / polished designs
- Ability to articulate through written and verbal communication well
- Works well in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working and collaborating with multiple departments
Desirable:
- Prototyping experience
- iOS and Android mobile design knowledge
- Experience designing for mobile devices
- Ability to measure pixels by eye
- Experience in user testing
- User interaction models
- User testing strategy and best practices information
