THE ROLE:

FloSports is looking for a Broadcast Network Engineer to join our Research and Development department. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, experienced, and highly motivated. This role will be responsible for all technical aspects of production and broadcast transmission both on remote location and in-plant. This role will be required to travel as needed to support live remote productions nation-wide. These remote productions may range from 80 court volleyball events to network quality rugby. The ideal candidate is excited in putting together solutions for any live broadcast, delivering the highest quality while being most efficient at the same time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel across the country for live events as needed
  • Engineer in Charge on-site
  • Work closely with production crew on live remote setups
  • Ensure stable delivery of program from remote site to FloSports’ backend
  • Setup, monitor, and maintain broadcast network on-site and in-plant
  • Testing and integrating new technology
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during live production in a timely manner
  • Reading of signal flow diagrams and schematics
  • Documentation of workflows, SOP’s, and best practices
  • Identify and document issues encountered in live production
  • Maintenance of all broadcast systems
  • Termination and laying of all standard broadcast cables for permanent installation and remote production

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of Networking - This includes:
    • Device networking
    • IP management
    • Network analysis
    • Vlan creation
    • Firewall policies
  • Understanding of Transport Stream Protocols (RTMP, SRT, RTP, WebRTC)
  • Deep understanding of signal flow in analog, digital, and IP environments
  • Experience with and knowledge of all production and broadcast systems and standards – Including:
    • Cameras, Camera robotics, Robotics control, NDI, SDI
    • Switchers, Production routers, Playout servers, Keying
    • Mixers, Gain staging, Dante, MADI, Comms, RF, AES
    • Encoders, Transcoders, Mux/Demux, Up/Down/Cross
    • Lighting, DMX
    • GPIO, RS-422, VISCA
  • Process driven and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be willing to work weekends and travel for productions, including weekends and holidays

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years in Live Production
  • 3 years in Broadcast Engineering

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Any network or broadcast certification (CCNA, SBE – CBNT, SBE - CBNE)
