About the Role:

As our Software Engineer in DevOps you will work as a member of the technology team to create, manage, and monitor our application infrastructure, release pipeline, and continuous deployments that enable nonprofits world-wide to execute on their mission. You will work with other engineering and operations team members to develop, maintain, and optimize multiple levels of infrastructure, lead conversations around application implementation, and help make engineering pipedreams possible. In this role you will help build an agile operations model to support Blackbaud’s Award’s Management solutions (AcademicWorks) while maintaining the high level of reliable services our clients need. This is a highly visible and challenging opportunity that will bring you to the next step in your career.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, build and maintain as release pipeline and pipeline process to help engineering teams guarantee successful production deployments
  • Ensure application performance in production to scale, provide infrastructure and architecture guidance to engineering teams, and monitor trends to find and address issues before clients even know they exist.
  • Troubleshoot & Maintain the AcademicWorks application from an Operations perspective
  • Launch, monitor, and manage both clustered and non-clustered datastores and databases
  • Launce, monitor, and manage individual servers in our cloud environment
  • Ensure the SLA for Blackbaud services with a high-availability system design and production-monitoring plan.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of Blackbaud’s cloud services

What we’ll want you to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or equivalent experience
  • Experience building and maintaining software and/or a software defined infrastructure
  • A savvy technical interpreter that can translate a challenge into an opportunity for improvement.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical counterparts.
  • Must display an exceptional degree of professionalism and confidence.
  • Ability to work with and debug unfamiliar, existing code.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with cloud environments like AWS (EC2, ECS, and surrounding services)
  • Demonstrated ability with server administration – debugging and resolving system/application issues.
  • Developing self-service reporting and automation tools for various teams to leverage
  • Developing scripts (Ruby, Shell, Elixir and Python are bonuses) for automating routine tasks
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms
  • Ability to setup Cassandra, PostgresQL and Elasticsearch database, troubleshoot DB issues & improve DB performance
  • Experience with Virtualization and Deployment technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes & Ansible for CI/CD
