As the Director of Engineering, you will guide your teams to drive and manage high-quality execution and operational excellence, as they deliver technology solutions that meet business needs and maximize customer experience, growth and retention.
Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Engineering has responsibility over multiple teams and technologies. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for driving the conversations that articulate a solution for very complex programs then leading the team that can deliver results.
- Own, manage, and evolve the delivery team’s performance who deliver solutions for a wide variety of internally developed technologies and capabilities supporting internally facing and external customer focused applications, and capabilities in order to improve resiliency, identify root cause, and enable improved customer satisfaction and services
- Manage all phases of software engineering including; requirements, design, coding and testing
- Manage the implementation product features in collaboration with product managers and stakeholder
- Lead an Agile / Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases every 2 weeks
- Build awesome software that changes not just our business but the whole industry
- Function as a mentor for software engineers, quality engineers, and scrum masters, aiding where needed
- Drive organization initiatives including Agile maturity, automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery and documentation
- Maintain alignment of teams to business and technical delivery expectations, and act as a point of contact for escalations and leadership communications
- Work with sometimes ambiguous / conceptual requirements and guide the technical team to provide functionality with the right amount of engineering
- Be unafraid to roll up your sleeves and work side by side with your engineers to deliver product
- Pursue opportunities to adopt new technologies and drive adoption to enhance business outcomes
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional Information Technology experience
- 5+ years of experience leading distributed teams (at the Director level) and managing IT departments in a large enterprise environment
- Undergraduate degree or work experience equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous mobile industry experience
- Exposure with Advertising Technology digital platforms (Google Ad Manager, DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), etc.)
- Experience designing fault tolerant and highly available systems
- Experience implementing test automation suites such as Selenium, Cucumber, Jenkins, etc.
- Understanding of various security controls and passionate about learning new technologies
- Broad and demonstrated background in a wide variety of technologies, tools, coding languages, and infrastructure so as to support development teams in the evolution of infrastructure and a maturity of code, leading to increased resiliency and improved customer satisfaction
- Demonstrate ability to work with architects, development personnel, senior management, and business stakeholders with a wide variety of disparate personalities and skill sets, while taking ownership and driving improvement of internal systems and components
- Demonstrated ability to predict potential shortcomings and opportunities for improvement based upon expertise and historical data and the ability to present findings, patterns, and potential improvement opportunities
- Experience having managed and driven internal systems towards continuously improving operational efficiency and reporting capabilities across and throughout the organization
