Hyliion is looking for a Director Software Quality and Production Engineering to join our engineering team in Austin. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals that are highly motivated to revolutionize an industry, reduce the use of fuel and have some fun. You will be joining an experienced engineering team in the design, simulation, implementation and testing of electrical powertrain systems. Reports to VP Software

  • Lead the software Quality and Production Engineering efforts for Hyliion products ensuring reliability, robustness for class 8 product applications
  • Lead the development of test plans and scripts to rapidly evaluate software performance. Suggest resolution strategies where feasible.
  • Manage management team of production and validation engineers delivering to quarterly production driven milestones
  • Work with outside engineering partners to delegate and track work packets while in parallel continuing to build the Hyliion quality and production team
  • Support the development and validation of diagnostics for Hyliion’s commercialized product suite

    • Software Testing Methods for Embedded Systems (MiL, SiL, PiL, RCP)

    • Diagnostics / Prognostics
    • Cloud
    • Agile V-Model
    • Model based function implementation and integration
    • Battery Technologies & BMS
    • ADAS systems
    • Electrified Components including Motors and Motor Controllers
    • Conventional Powertrain and OBD Requirements
    • Vehicle wiring systems
  • Experienced with cloud services and API’s, particularly REST API’s
  • Experience with communications protocols like CAN, USB, ethernet, TCP/IP
  • Understanding of networking and networked-computing concepts is required; specifically, synchronization, race conditions and debugging communication protocols
  • Competency with modern collaboration tools (like Slack, Jira Service Desk)
  • Experienced with Atlassian products including Confluence, Jira and Bitbucket
  • Experienced with the agile development process
  • Expert in developing high-level software architectures
  • APQP toolsets including FMEAs and DVP&R
  • Strong follow-through and self-starting nature
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
  • Position will involve travel visiting engineering providers and hardware suppliers
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
  • Ability to communicate with customers positively and effectively (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in an automotive software environment preferably with electrification and conventional powertrain applications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
