The Manufacturing Process Engineer is directly involved in the implementation and optimization of new product production processes and supporting equipment and tooling, maximizing manufacturing efficiencies, process data collection, identifying and correcting process deficiencies and monitoring process performance. The Manufacturing Engineer will contribute to capital and maintenance engineering projects as it pertains to YETI Custom Drinkware processes and equipment. This role will also focus on the implementation and maintenance of the standard operating procedures, process training and other manufacturing process requirements. This role is accountable and has shared responsibilities for ensuring reliable and cost effective operations through year over year productivity improvement while always meeting or exceeding safety, environmental and quality standards. As process and product quality are a key component of the year over year productivity improvements, the ability to assist equipment vendors in designing and improving efficiency and reliability and critical quality control point tolerances.

A look at your day-to-day

  • Design / verify the manufacturing processes for the manufacture of new products that meet the capacity, capability and quality requirements of the product while being cost effective and launch said processes on time to the launch schedule and obtain process sign off within the production start approval process
  • Collect, record, and transcribe data and transfer these results into reports in order to accurately convey all key elements of the manufacturing process and it’s performance against target
  • Work with equipment designers and suppliers to develop innovative, cost-effective, capable and repeatable production processes and oversee the implementation process including process layout, staffing, QCP implementation through the startup and certification of said process
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and financial budgets and the Capital Expenditure processes are followed.

Now for a little bit about you….

  • Bachelors Degree in Material Science, Quality, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering is preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and be familiar with health and safety regulations as well as demonstrate team building and successful coaching and mentoring practices
  • Must have experience with Lean methodologies: Kanban, Kaizen utilizing value stream mapping, continuous improvement, and process improvements
  • Demonstrate skills in solving manufacturing issues through the use of but not limited to SPC, 8D, PFMEA, Pareto, and various other problem solving methodologies
  • Must be an analytical thinker with strong interpersonal skills that has proven capability in driving results by organizing and influencing others through cross functional team engagement
  • Have working knowledge of process engineering software packages
  • Ability to creating or revising process documents such as FMEA's, Control Plans, and standard operating procedures or job instructions
  • The ideal candidate have an inquisitive and curious nature with a strong ability to quickly ascertain a process, identify bottlenecks and analyze and implement resolutions
  • Must be an analytical thinker with strong interpersonal skills that has proven capability in driving results by organizing and influencing others through cross functional team engagement
  • Good communicator, organized and possess a teaching mindset
  • Goal oriented with high standards for excellence
