Rooster Teeth Productions is looking for a Ruby on Rails Software Engineer Contractor to join our Engineering team for the remainder of 2018. We are looking for someone who can work across teams as a liaison in the language of code as well as have a passion for and knowledge of developing packages, tools, and techniques to bridge needs across both our SF and Austin teams. Knowledge of and passion for digital entertainment and gaming culture is a huge plus!

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of code changes to resolve issues between APIs
  • Develop code to report on delivery and distribution of content
  • Engineering liaison between physical locales
  • Communication of issues related to content distribution

Qualifications

  • 3+ years working with Ruby on Rails framework and experience integrating with a wide variety of data/service providers
  • Strong object-oriented software design skills
  • Experience writing Ruby Gems
  • Familiarity with Go
  • Extensive experience creating/managing/interacting with RESTful HTTP APIs
  • Parsing and generating formatted data in various formats like JSON and XML
  • Experience with standard Pub/Sub message handling
  • RabbitMQ, Sidekiq, Redis, AWS SNS/SMS/SQS/Lambda
  • Experience with standard RDMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience building service oriented, fault-tolerant distributed systems
  • Practical understanding as well as hands-on development experience in some cloud/client/data engineering technology like AWS
  • Experienced in Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Solid understanding of network systems, software architecture, and data structures
  • Strong communication, collaboration, reporting, and analytical skills
