About us:

Mythic has developed a unified hardware and software platform featuring its unique Mythic Analog Compute Engine (Mythic ACE™) to deliver revolutionary power, cost, and performance that shatters digital barriers preventing AI innovation at the edge. The Mythic Analog Matrix Processor (Mythic AMP™) makes it much easier and more affordable to deploy powerful AI solutions, from the data center to the edge device. The company has raised over $165.2 million to date, has over 120 employees, and has offices in Redwood City, CA, and Austin, TX.

About the role:

Mythic’s AI hardware combines knowledge across many domains, including AI, compilers, computer architecture, analog circuits, and non-volatile memories. Mythic will enable the future of AI by building analog-compute hardware platforms that are 100-1000x more efficient than conventional all-digital systems.

We are looking for an analog and mixed-signal designer who enjoys difficult and novel engineering challenges that help create and improve the world's first analog computing AI product. This role has the opportunity to help shape what Mythic’s next generation products look like from the analog compute perspective by helping design analog computing peripheral circuits, assist with design and creation of data converter architectures that set new standards for area and power efficiency and performance, and learning about analog computing for AI applications. Mythic’s products have over 25,000 data converters on a single chip, so the design decisions made by the person in this role are critical to Mythic’s future success.

Here’s what you will do:

  • Help define novel analog compute architectures through design, modeling, and simulation of analog and mixed-signal circuits
  • Design, simulate, and verify LDOs, buffers, current sources, dynamic circuits, and data converter signal chains
  • This includes support circuitry and interactions with non-volatile memory circuits
  • Interact with various teams as we optimally integrate our analog compute structures into the AI application space
  • Use technical skills and experiences to ensure continued competitiveness from Mythic’s data converter architectures
  • Improve testbench fidelity to the complicated analog compute signal chain by modeling challenging aspects of interacting with non-volatile memory

Here’s the background we hope you have:

  • Master's with 3+ years of industry experience designing cutting edge analog products
  • Deep understanding of transistor-level circuits, including bandwidth, noise, nonlinearities, and the relevant tradeoffs.
  • Experience working with ADCs and DACs, and familiarity with a variety of architectures.
  • Experience designing multiple variants of operational amplifiers.
  • Design experience with some of the following: SerDes, PLLs, bandgaps, current reference generation circuits.
  • Experience designing circuits that require trim, with experience in DFT, DFM, and BIST.
  • Supervisory experience of layout engineers and guided changes as required.
  • Experience with advanced process nodes (65nm and below) in the last 3 years.

The following would be nice to have, but is not required:

  • Relevant PhD with over 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience as a lead for either top level IP blocks or chip level design, and background creating detailed design review documentation.
  • Experience with the entire production process, including post-silicon debug and post-product release related activities for several products.
  • Experience working at startups.
  • Experience mentoring designers.
  • Experience (work or certifications) with machine learning, neural networks, or AI
  • Master's in relevant field (Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Computer Engineering)
  • Experience with auto-zeroing circuits and foreground / background calibration techniques.
  • Experience with AMS verification and simulations.
  • Experience designing a new product from the ground up.
  • Knows at least one scripting language such as Perl, Python, Ruby, or Tcl.
  • Experience working with a revision control system.Comfortable working from command line.
