Hyliion is looking for a highly motivated and energetic Senior Manager, Quality Systems to join our team in Cedar Park, Texas. The Senior Manager - Quality Systems position is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Providing quality leadership to Business and Operations through the application of APQP tools to new product launches, new customer applications, engineering changes, and deviations, assuring compliance to customer-specific requirements.
  • Championing six sigma and quality disciplines internally and externally with suppliers including structured problem-solving, corrective and preventative action, process controls, verification, and timely closure of quality issues.
  • Implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) for Hyliion with appropriate metrics that assure compliance to ISO/TS 16949, regulatory and customer quality systems requirements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and customers as needed to improve customer satisfaction (ppm); drive actions to improve customer scorecards, apply audit and survey results, and support effective management review.
  • Assure field and zero mileage issues are properly analyzed and results communicated to the Hyliion organization to improve product reliability and reduce the overall cost of quality and cost of non-quality (avoid “no trouble found” and unnecessary returns).
  • Drive internal and supplier corrective and preventative action using 8D; evaluate supplier responses; assure effective containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions, verification, and timely closure.
  • Own design and implementation of Hyliion quality lab, coordinate review of purchased products samples/issues and provides input to the decision to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor as required.
  • Determine and develop product inspection plans, safe launch plans, audit requirements, test methods, conduct internal audits, conduct product/gage studies, and analyze results for product launch and change management.
  • Manage, maintain, and continuously improve the quality tracking tools for warranty tracking, field part analysis, supplier scorecard, zero mileage, and Hebron Quality Metrics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree technical field (BS in Engineering, Statistics or Sciences).
  • 10+ years in Engineering, Quality or Project Management in Automotive, Manufacturing and/or Electronics Industry preferred.
  • Supervisory experience and ASQ Quality certifications (CQE, CRE, Black Belt, etc.) preferred.
  • Product knowledge, technical aptitude, and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and organization skills with demonstrated “can do” approach and proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to solve problems effectively, act promptly, adapt & streamline processes, champion change, and leading & conducting audits with the ability to coach, mentor and develop other disciplines preferred.
  • Experience working with and establishing positive collaborative relationships with internal and external engineering, quality, and operations teams on cross-functional projects, in data analysis and applying structured problem-solving methods; Six Sigma, problem-solving (such as 8D using Five Why's, Is-Is Not analysis) experience preferred.
  • Experience in various aspects of quality: laboratory, operations, supplier, product development and launch, customer satisfaction, lean, and warranty analysis.
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements/compliance/audit programs to ISO/TS/IATF 16949 with use of AIAG PPAP, FMEA, APQP (Control Plans), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA); ISO/TS/IATF 16949 internal auditor and third-party certification preferred.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T with a working understanding of measurement methods, layout inspection (CMM), gage calibration, and industry standards for inspection and testing preferred.
  • Strong verbal presentation and clear concise written communication with proven ability to convey technical information that is appropriate to the audience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); Minitab statistical analysis, and Project Management preferred.

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

 

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional equipment as found in a typical office
