The Core Business team at RetailMeNot is responsible for the RetailMeNot Genie, a browser extension that automatically applies savings using the savings options available to RetailMeNot such as coupon codes, instant cash back, and discounted gift cards. We help millions of visitors per month save money and discover great deals at their favorite retailers.

Technical challenges on the team range across the entire stack. Our engineers work in a wide array of technologies they’ve chosen to best fit problems we are trying to solve, and are constantly on the lookout for new technologies to improve our code. Across the team we take a data-driven, scientific approach. We improve the product through extensive A/B testing. When you ship a feature on this team, you’ll know your exact impact to the bottom line.

This team is integral to the RetailMeNot business, so we need engineers who can deliver results while understanding the structure of a large system. We provide cross-team leadership that ensures that RetailMeNot code meets a consistent standard while building the platform of the future. With this team, your daily activities will involve oversight, mentoring, delivering key pieces of functionality, and collaborating with technology leadership to plan the technical roadmap for RMN.

Who You Are

• You have 4+ years of application development experience
• You've got a proven track record of successful high quality delivery of complex features, despite ambiguity in priorities and requirements
• You possess a solid understanding and application of computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms and design patterns
• You are proficient with web technologies like Python, Vue/React, Node.js, MySQL, MongoDB, and Algolia
• You've got an understanding of systems architecture technologies such as Linux, Google Cloud / Amazon Web Services and Docker
• You're experienced with common software engineering tools such as Git, JIRA, TeamCity, Confluence or similar
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline

What You'll Do

• You'll lead technical design and delivery of complex features and components of system
• You understand and deploy software to our cloud server infrastructure
• You'll trouble-shoot and assist with production support issues
• You'll collaborate with engineers to deliver complex features across systems
• You contribute to the overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance of applications
• You'll mentor junior engineers on software engineering techniques, process, and new technologies
• You stay ahead of new technologies with an eye to evaluating/incorporating them into your team's architecture. Technologies we use today include VueJS, VueX, and webpack.
