Simulation Manager
Hyliion is looking for a Simulation Manager to join our engineering team in Austin. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. You will be joining an experienced engineering team in the design, simulation, implementation and testing of electrical powertrain systems. Reports to Director Powertrain

- Manage Hyliion simulation engineering team tracking weekly tasks/deliverables to meet company objectives
- Provide the following internal simulation services:
- Powertrain Modelling (including engines, transmission, and electric motors)
- Algorithm development for maximum fuel economy, performance, and vehicle range
- Develop future powertrain architectures and control strategies
- Develop technology roadmaps for Hyliion simulation toolsets
- Manage outsourced simulation activities at third part engineering providers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Competency in simulation tools including Simulink
- 10 -15 years in simulation environment using Simulink and equivalent toolsets
- Core understanding of engines, motors and their efficiency maps essential
- Experience of powertrain systems engineering including transmissions
- Solid understanding of battery system design
- Class-8 truck design / system experience
- Understanding of automotive powertrain systems including both traditional and hybrid
- Strong follow-through and self-starting nature
- Ability to positively and effectively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments
- Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
- Strong software tools proficiency in Solid Modeling and Project Data/Lifecycle Management
- Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
- Willingness and ability to work more than 8 hours a day to ensure that deadlines are achieved
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years experience in automotive simulation environment
- Master’s in mechanical engineering
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms
- Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
