The genetic testing space is moving and growing at a rapid pace. To support the Invitae mission, our engineering team needs to innovate quickly. The platform’s focus on scale, speed, and supportability enables this pace while keeping us lean and efficient.

We're hiring full stack engineers/individual contributors to work on Geneticus. Geneticus is Invitae's source of truth for our understanding of Genes and Diseases. We are seeking senior-level experience in Full Stack development, with a preference for those with some Python expertise. Further, we expect candidates with excellent communication skills, particularly those who have demonstrated a proactive approach to identifying and meeting with stakeholders.

Candidates should have had prior experience contributing to existing large codebases, with ability to articulate lessons learned about older products that have changed many hands. Additionally experience building new products from the ground-up is a plus.

A successful candidate will be motivated to independently learn about our product and start contributing high quality code within a month of onboarding. We expect the person to quickly learn and adapt to our team's best practices.

Skills/Experience

  • Python (Django or Flask bonus)
  • Javascript/Typescript (ReactJS bonus)
  • 3-5 years overall experience in software engineering
  • Familiar with Agile delivery processes and test-driven development.
  • Some experience with "DevOps" concerns like docker, rancher/k8s, aws, bash, Jenkins/groovy, etc
  • Bonus: significant experience leading multi-functional development efforts.
  • Bonus: mentors other specialists.
  • Bonus: Experience working with remote/international staff.
  • Bonus: Prior work experience in life sciences space/lab setting.
