ABOUT THE JOB

The Chief Revenue Officer will take responsibility for the totality of our Services Business. This includes management of our outbound client development channel, both direct and indirect. Based on a reputation for high quality and cost-effective work, SubVRsive has been fortunate to enjoy continued strong inbound demand. Having tuned our processes and grown our team, we are now ready to start developing broader and deeper client relationships by proactively selling projects into agencies and brands.

The CRO will set our strategy for this initiative, and will implement plans and tactics to deliver substantial revenue growth from it.

This involves development of an opportunity prioritization framework that will guide our BD efforts based on a set of carefully selected criteria, a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, effective assessment of potential clients’ VR and AR strategies, and development of a direct and indirect channel strategy that will unlock significant client and revenue opportunities from highest potential and highest quality clients.

Opening new doors and continually deepening our relationships with existing customers and partners, this role will help articulate our value proposition to target customers, and will lead the development of solutions and products that effectively address client needs. The role is responsible for managing the entire sales and engagement process, and will also oversee product delivery and ongoing client management, especially with regards to identifying and securing additional opportunities with clients it helped acquire.

This position will manage our production, creative services, and marketing team. It will also lead development of a sales and account management team.

Particular attention to our strategic partnership with WPP will be required to take full advantage of this channel advantage.

A key priority of this role is to build deeper, longer lasting and higher value-added relationships with our customers. SubVRsive has an opportunity to unlock more strategic partnership opportunities with our customers, and this role will be at the heart of the effort that positions the Company in a way that earns and wins us these opportunities.

As this is not a “hire a smart person to learn on the job” position, applicants must have prior experience in business development and sales in strategic, creative or technology services, and must have a demonstrated ability to be comfortable and impactful in an environment that changes rapidly and offers limited structure. This position requires a self-starter who can hit the ground sprinting. The ability to work from experience and from a set of existing relationships is critical.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are a small company, and flexibility to switch from one context to another seamlessly is key. Needless to say, you will wear many hats at once, especially early on.

  • Always be selling. Always focus on client value and profitable revenue growth. Deliver $4M in direct sales in year one, and grow from there.
  • Define, implement, and tune direct and indirect (agency and other partners) outbound channel strategies.
  • Optimize inbound sales channel and associated marketing activities.
  • Prioritize sales targets.
  • Build and manage a world class BD & sales team:
    • Recruit the highest caliber talent
    • Develop and implement an effective team structure, including comp and incentive planning
    • Instill a culture of urgency, success, and cooperation
    • Oversee sales training and development
    • Define and implement effective sales processes
    • Continuously measure and improve team effectiveness
  • Shape infrastructure and systems needed to succeed with our BD efforts.
  • Monitor activity of markets, competitors, and customers. Be on the pulse of this fast evolving space, and serve as a conduit of knowledge for the broader organization.
  • Lead the marketing team to develop and implement effective communications and marketing strategies.
  • Lead the creative and production teams in designing and delivering custom solutions that delight our customers.
  • Serve as a member of our senior team and lead through influence.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Must Have:

  • Perfect fit with the SubVRsive culture, and capable of instilling our culture in the wider team
  • Independent, energetic, and capable of driving results under pressure and in the face of ambiguity
  • Curiosity, creative thinking and a zest for delivering ‘out-of-the-box’ solutions that delight our customers by exceeding their expectations
  • Deep experience in progressively larger and more senior Business Development and Sales roles that have demonstrated your ability to think strategically, see around corners, define solutions that meet and exceed expectations, build and manage high performing teams, drive financial performance, and serve as an effective leader who goes above and beyond to ensure company success
  • Experience and prior success in selling bespoke creative/innovation services (for examples, agencies), strategic services (for example, consulting, business transformation, or business & product design services), technology solutions (for example, mobile app development), or similar. It is critical you enjoy and are outstanding at crafting tailored, unique services and solutions for each client and each situation.
  • Undergrad degree

Nice to Have:

  • Experience selling branded entertainment products or content driven projects to digital marketers or content buyers
  • Experience and familiarity with Virtual and Augmented Reality
  • Active experience in video production and/or software product management
  • Master’s Degree (MBA)
  • Corporate or Management Consulting Strategy experience
