We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller who will lead all Huckberry Accounting efforts and help us build out the financial foundation that will support our aggressive growth plans.
The Controller will own all financial statement preparation & presentation, while building & maintaining a robust internal controls environment. Additionally, this role will partner cross-functionally to help deliver actionable data that will enable business partners to both contain costs and drive growth. Perhaps most importantly, we are looking for an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, who is inspired by building the retail experience of the future.
In this position you will report to our Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close process to deliver timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Oversee all year-end processes, including all corporate tax filings (in partnership with our 3rd party CPA firm).
- Lead all company audit and compliance efforts, including transition from reviewed to fully-audited financial statements for upcoming fiscal year.
- Review existing internal controls to identify gaps; design, implement and enforce new controls, as needed, to maximize protection of company assets.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing and new legislation.
- Manage all Accounting Operations functions, including Inventory Control, Accounts Payable, and Sales Audit, to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Drive Accounting Team strategy, including systems roadmap and ongoing process optimization.
- Manage banking partnership and credit lines to optimize cash flow.
- Partner with cross functional teams, including FP&A, to identify reporting improvement opportunities that will drive meaningful insight throughout the organization.
Requirements
- 7+ years of accounting & finance experience, including senior leadership experience
- Strong proficiency with technical accounting matters, including GAAP requirements (CPA is a plus)
- Demonstrated experience building the accounting function within a rapidly growing organization
- Experience in hiring, managing, and mentoring a team of accountants and analysts
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or apparel sectors preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and fluency with accounting software systems
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is strongly preferred
