SpareFoot is actively seeking an experienced Controller to improve our accounting systems and practices. This role is a critical player within the finance group, reporting directly to the CFO.

As the Controller, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of our accounting operations, including the monthly close cycle, financial reporting, internal controls, and policy/process development. What you will do everyday:

  • Serve as the lead for the accounting department working primarily autonomous
  • Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual filings and associated financial statements, footnotes, and management’s discussions, analyses and supporting schedules
  • Evaluate all significant accounting transactions, research and implement relevant accounting technical standards, and prepare technical accounting memos supporting all positions
  • Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and SOX controls
  • Administer the treasury function of the company, including account maintenance, transfers, and credit cards
  • Ensure ERP Administration, risk management and regulatory compliance
  • Hire, manage, and develop accounting staff as needed in addition to managing the offshore team in India
  • Design and implement SpareFoot’s billing and collection process
  • Own the preparation, collection and ultimate completion of the SpareFoot Audit each year (by partnering with our outside firm KPMG)
  • Serve as NetSuite primary administrator- knowing the in’s and out’s of the system as well as helping train others on NetSuite best practices.
  • Partner with each of our departments to create, maintain, analyze and deliver monthly, quarterly and yearly budget reviews (with leadership)
  • Be responsible for all balance sheet and cash flow forecasting
  • Partner with our FP&A organization during the forecasting and budgeting cycle to create an all in Revenue to AEBITDA financial forecast
  • Assist in Board Management (i.e. financial reporting, investor information requests, etc.)
  • Serve as primary knowledge source for SpareFoot’s spending while maintaining a positive employee experience


What you need to bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting / Finance
  • 5+ years of Accounting/Controller experience
  • Exposure and working knowledge of NetSuite
  • Current CPA required
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated and able to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast paced and growth oriented environment
  • Desire to build our accounting function and improve processes
