We are seeking an action-oriented Payroll Manager to support our payroll function for all of Babylon in the Americas. You will be a trusted advisor fostering continuous improvements to our payroll and other peripheral processes, working collectively with other COEs and the business to ensure we are providing exceptional services to support our very diverse pay policies across the region. You will work closely with finance, accounting and legal to ensure all banking, General Ledger and related financial services and requirements are met. 



WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

  • This role will be part of our People Operations team with a focus of enhancing our people experience and ensuring company’s compliance. The Payroll Manager will manage and deliver the day-to-day payroll functions and activities ensuring accurate and timely processing which includes base pay, payroll taxes, benefits, etc. Extensive knowledge of applicable federal, state and local wage and hour laws including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, EEO and other labor related regulations. Must have experience directing all payroll processing ensuring all time and attendance systems and any manual adjustments can be accurately reflected in our payroll systems. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for managing all employee-related insurance policies and changes related to 401K, Roth, HSA, FSA, and other employment benefits.   • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and collaborate with the businesses, divisions, COEs and other geographic counterparts are crucial. This role will foster relationships with all stakeholders including but not limited to HR service delivery, legal, tax, benefits, compensation, technology and finance. Experience and knowledge with designing and implementing payroll strategy, platforms and policies are required. Individuals with strong project management discipline and experience managing multiple parallel competitive initiatives working with global and cross functional teams are required to drive continuous process improvement opportunities. The individual must work collaboratively with the People team in resolving employee inquiries.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 8+ years of experience managing end to end payroll administration, including payroll tax, state filings and year end processes.
  • Superior interpersonal, influencing and leadership skills with ability to drive organizational change.
  • Ability to establish trusted relationships and to interact effectively with all level stakeholders. Establish and maintain solid partnership with the Service Delivery teams, build cross-group relationships. Integrity, trustworthiness and curiosity are key to success in this role.
  • Experience in process design; communication across diverse business segments and employee types is required.
  • Results oriented. Accuracy and quality focused, to ensure expeditious resolution and/or escalation of identified issues.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving fast-moving environment
  • Ability to handle complex and difficult issues assertively, effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience in setting up new payroll systems with complex pay policies and employee mix (W2 and 1099) across all states is a must. Experience in handling all aspects of project management, including integration of projects across functions and organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, organization and collaboration skills with a strong growth mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations in a dynamic environment. Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Must be capable of setting clear expectations and communicating clearly to stakeholders or team members.
  • Working knowledge of other payroll related regulations or laws such as unemployment insurance or worker’s compensation requirements.
  • Deep experience in the control and balance environment to ensure accuracy and compliance is key to success in this role.
  • Manage associated compliance and record retention staying current and compliant on regulations and labor laws impacting the payroll process and payroll tax jurisdiction. 
  • Lead federal and state tax reporting requirements: including quarterly payroll reports, annual earnings (W-2’s), withholding tax, and other required reporting.
  • Take ownership of associated policies and processes and recommend process improvements. Work closely with the People team to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure proper effectiveness of system controls.
  • Experience working with PEO firms is a plus. List job qualifications/requirements
