The Opportunity
Personify has an amazing opportunity for a bright, energetic Accounting professional to join our team within a fast-growing software company. This position will report into the Controller and play a key role on the finance and accounting team. This team engages directly with Senior Executives throughout the organization. The Senior Accountant will be a close partner to the business and be involved in all financial decisions, strategic projects, and improving the efficiency of day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will be experienced in budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting.
Given the frequent meetings and collaboration with Senior Executives and leadership throughout the organization, strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. This position will reside at Personify’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities
Review customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition and timely billing of software and maintenance.
Maintain and perform revenue reconciliations for software and maintenance contracts.
Streamline process to ensure accurate recording and correct classification of revenue.
Manage monthly revenue accounting close including invoicing, contracts analysis, and cut off procedures.
Ensure timely collection of customer receivables.
General accounting to include preparation of journal entries, general ledger account analysis and preparation and maintenance of account reconciliations.
Establish and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with other departments to ensure a timely, effective exchange of information.
Assist in the annual audit by providing schedules and responding to inquiries from external auditors.
Assist finance team in hitting budget objectives by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, consolidating, and interpreting financial data

Required Skills / Experience
Principles - Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) / knowledge of Statutory accounting principles
Adaptable – must adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment, with occasionally long hours
Team Oriented – able to lead others, work independently, and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team
Proactive – highly motivated self-starter and intellectually curious with a tendency towards action and desire to pursue a career in accounting and/or finance
Tools – Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial software, with demonstrated ability to improve processes via automation and end-to-end efficiencies
Qualifications – Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred
Systems – Experience with NetSuite a plus
Experience – 3 to 5 years’ of progressively responsible experience in Accounting/Finance, preferably in companies with international operations. Public accounting experience is also highly valued, as is demonstrated success and increasing responsibility within a company’s accounting function
