Who You Are

As Ontic’s Strategic Development Intern you have a passion for big picture thinking but especially how macro events impact facts ‘on the ground’. You love reading and writing about geopolitical events, foreign affairs, military developments, economics, business and the interconnectedness between these themes. You also have a passion for technology and the ways it can be used to enable enhanced decision making. You sincerely want the world to be a safer place and want the work you do to help make that a reality.

Responsibilities

• Assist Ontic’s VP, Business Development and other senior team members with strategic intelligence product ideation
• Develop conceptual and informational bridges between tactical and strategic intelligence inputs and outputs
• Curate and operationalize a group of intelligence resources that address a range of intel topics
• Research strategic industry contacts across a range of organizations, sectors and personas

Internship Phases

• Phase One: Identify business activity variables and metrics across a range of business and facility types which can be instrumentalized through data and feeds.
• Phase Two: Build visualization of a full suite of standalone tools which together begin to tell stories of critical activity across facilities identified in Phase One.
• Phase Three: Present a full suite of tools to the VP, Business Development and leadership team. Tools should be mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive, and roll up and down the value/action chain of a given business and its facilities and operations. 

Qualifications

• You are passionate about the intersection of geopolitics, business, intelligence and technology
• Demonstrated top-notch academic performance and intellectual curiosity
• You are fluent with various technologies and platforms (i.e. Microsoft suite, slack, spreadsheets, databases, etc.)
• You have a demonstrated ability to maintain your professionalism and composure in a fast-paced environment with competing and constantly changing needs
• You love working with people. You are collaborative, upbeat, and optimistic
• You are a problem solver with a can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves spirit
• You are exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
• You are a proactive and clear communicator
• You want to work in a fast-paced, high-growth, tech startup environment

Key Dates

• The internship will be in-person in Austin, Texas
• Internship Duration: September 12th - December 9th 2022
• We will allow an early start date before September if applicable
• Expected hours: 20-40 hours/week
