Who You Are

To help support our fast-growing business, Ontic is looking for a seasoned Brand and Communications Director to drive strategic external communications in building our visibility, reputation and category position across key markets. This role will be based in Austin reporting to the VP of Marketing.


Leading a team of communication, marketing, and creative professionals, you will develop Ontic’s brand voice and maintain our brand integrity across all platforms. You will develop, execute and optimize Ontic’s content strategy in collaboration with subject matter experts in order to build a new category and establish Ontic as a leader in the protective intelligence space.


A strong collaborator and organizer, you will oversee our external creative and PR/AR agencies and contractors and also work closely with internal stakeholders including with marketing, partnerships, product teams, external clients and partners to bring Ontic’s brand narrative to life. 

Key Responsibilties

  • Direct internal teams, external agencies and partnerships to propel the brand and communications programs forward, coordinating Ontic subject matter experts and spokespeople to drive meaningful narratives and media opportunities for maximum impact
  • Oversee and maintain Ontic’s speaking and awards program, with support from our PR agencies, to bolster awareness of company innovation, product and partner program excellence, customer success, thought leadership perspectives and workplace culture, among others
  • Refine approach to media monitoring and social listening for reputation issues, campaign impact and reporting
  • Establish strong and collaborative relationships with the Revenue Marketing Team and throughout the company to ensure all external communications initiatives are aligned, consistent, synchronized and amplified to maximize reach of coverage
  • Build and execute timely strategic PR-led campaigns that showcase the company’s mission and values
  • Manage analyst relations plan and coordinate AR activities that include scheduling and staffing briefings, preparing presentations and spokespeople, counseling internal teams on messaging and sharing insights from reports
  • Build out and expand thought leadership and client reference programs translating client insights into compelling stories
  • Develop and oversee key external communications campaigns and materials, including campaign assets, press releases, Q&As, executive briefings and talking points
  • Strategically design and develop content that support organic SEO goals and growth
  • Identify additional areas of opportunity to advance the Ontic brand narrative and market positioning, including monitoring and benchmarking industry developments
  • Ensure that Ontic is featured in top industry awards and rankings
  • Lead, manage, and inspire a small team; create a culture of collaboration & learning
  • Set quarterly objectives / goals for local team members and agencies and problem solve and strategize to deliver against goals/ key KPIs

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of external content and communications experience in enterprise tech
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • PR agency or in-house media relations experience preferred
  • Adept at picking up technical topics and distilling complex information for a variety of audiences
  • Able to think critically and offer strategic and executive counsel, even in high-pressure situations
  • Aptitude for multi-tasking and prioritization in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational and project management skills
  • Work as an individual as well as a team player
  • Ability to analyze metrics and present information in a meaningful way
  • Comfortable building a global program and team leveraging new approaches to communications/public relations in an evolving digital landscape
  • Knowledge of Cision and wire services a plus
  • Comfortable with regional travel to meet with local agencies + teams and attend activities (when needed)
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
