Director, Product Marketing

Reporting to the VP of Growth Marketing, you will be a key player in developing the go-to-market and product marketing strategies at Self. The product marketing team partners cross-functionally to drive and unify business, product, and marketing goals, and our positioning with customers in the market. Managing and growing a small team of product marketers, you will conduct competitive and consumer research, and dig into our user data to cross-functionally develop new products and feature growth strategies. You will work as a unification point between product and marketing functions to influence roadmaps, ensure alignment of strategic initiatives, and facilitate execution.
What You Will Do
- Develop the core positioning and marketing strategies for Self’s products and features.Pull together expertise of product and marketing teams to align on audiences, channels, conversion funnels, and key marketing activities to deploy.
- Partner with Product to coordinate product releases - including target audience feature set, user experience, roadmap fit, communications and the go-to-market plan.
- Build and manage a process for understanding how we stack up against our competitors, and how to leverage competitive insights to inform product and marketing strategies.
- Build processes to collect customer feedback to inform product and marketing features.
- Partner with business unit owners to develop price, promotion, and incentive testing strategies to increase revenue.
- Work with product and marketing partners to clearly define marketing needs and coordinate various parts of the marketing organization to execute against those needs (e.g.lifecycle marketing, organic & content teams, paid marketing, affiliate/partnerships etc).
- Partner with design & copy to ensure coherent and consistent language and narrative between product and marketing messaging
- Manage and grow a team of product marketers, and work to evolve core product marketing capabilities at Self.
What you Bring
- 8+ years of experience in marketing or a related field with focus on product marketing.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams to bring products and features to market (B2C Financial technology and services background is a plus).
- A self-starter, you have the ability to jump into an existing organization, identify the key players, and motivate yourself and others to action - we move fast!
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams to bring products and features to market.
- Experience in developing consumer messaging, positioning, and targeting frameworks.
- You know your way around reports and dashboards to identify trends to inform marketing strategies - Excel, Tableau or other BI tools etc. (don’t worry, we have an analytics team to help).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills - you can convey goals, and what needs to get done succinctly (not always in powerpoint).
- A data driven mindset, you strive to develop proof of concepts, collect data, and iterate quickly to develop core go-to-market and marketing strategies.
