Marketing Strategy Manager

The Marketing Strategy Team is a commercial function responsible for planning and optimizing our delivery of leads to our clients. With a unique view across the entire lead generation funnel, the team has a large number of levers at its disposal to plan and improve performance for MVF and its clients. The team ensures that clients perform well from our leads, continue to order higher budgets and that MVF is able to fulfil these orders efficiently and profitably.
The Role
The Marketing Strategy Manager will be responsible for managing the marketing strategy and play a leading role in the commercial strategy within a given Hub. You are expected to ensure that the hub balances the supply of traffic available with the demand from clients in order to hit gross profit targets, grow client contributions, ensuring opportunities are seized on, and commercial initiatives are prioritized appropriately. The Marketing Strategy Manager ensures team objectives are well defined, responsibilities understood, work is delivered on time, and decision making is of the highest quality. The Manager will also be looking for opportunities to improve both client and team performance as well as how the wider department interacts with other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of 2+ analysts or senior analysts
- Coach the team in effective campaign management and identify issues and opportunities within their region.
- Hold 1:1s with analysts to support them in their road map objectives as well as their personal growth and development
- Work with analysts to devise long-term strategies to grow GP in regions/subsets
- Leading effective weekly health check meetings with the marketing teams that produce valuable actions that increase GP and client ROI
- Take responsibility for key initiatives in the wider department’s roadmap as well as the hub’s roadmap, effectively manage their delivery across stakeholders until successfully implemented
- Support in setting the commercial strategy, communicating it to the team and prioritising initiatives accordingly
- Coordinate meetings with sales to identify opportunities and address issues, assessing the needs of clients and developing strategies to grow them
- Constantly challenge and encourage the team to challenge processes and the status quo to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Working with the Head of Marketing to maintain a planned org structure to ensure adequate resourcing within their team
- Take a leading role in commercial and marketing meetings
- Review client ROI analysis to ensure it meets the required standard and is shared between and acted upon by the relevant stakeholders
- Developing and sharing processes, tools and techniques across the ops team to improve accuracy of work and workflow management
- Interviewing potential new members of the team for the analyst role
- Onboard new starters effectively, set SMART objectives for the analysts and manage their progress
- Where relevant, reviewing and scoring subcategory deep-dives and disposition reports to ensure analysis quality is high and that they can be shared either internally or externally
What Success Looks Like:
- Department’s GP is ahead of target
- Performance across regions is always understood and a strategy for growth is identified
- Team members are trained and managed effectively to perform against KPIs and OKRs
- Team members are delivering against their day-to-day responsibilities (market performance, client deep-dives)
- Commercial Head or MD is supported where needed
Our Ideal MVFer:
- Strong commercial instincts, a good knowledge of digital marketing and the ability to contextualise information by thinking laterally
- Proven analytical and numerical skills
- Management experience
- A well-organised individual who is able to work independently and can be relied upon to get the job done to a high standard
- The ideal candidate will build a series of strong relationships with people from all departments and develop a full understanding of how each team works
- Working knowledge of coding in Google Scripts, experience with MySQL or VBA (non-essential but will help)
- A problem solver with a positive attitude, logical mind and great communication skills
The benchmark for this role starts at £42,000 per annum.
