About the role
Hearth is looking for a Communications Manager to join our growing Marketing department. This person will develop and produce written content across all of our channels including our blog, marketing collateral, and press releases. This person will also help manage our public relations presence through growing and leveraging new and existing relationships. This role will work closely with the team to deliver a cohesive brand voice that communicates the value of Hearth to SMBs and contractors in the home improvement space.
The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about turning big ideas into helpful content that engages and transforms businesses. This person will become familiar with the home improvement and SMB marketing space. They will work cross-functionally across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success to deliver consistent and impactful messaging across all of our channels.
What you'll do:
  • Provide high quality written content for marketing, public relations, and product initiatives
  • Refresh and create new written content for the Hearth website and blog
  • Work closely with the marketing team on translating a creative vision into high-end deliverables
  • Craft engaging subject lines, headlines, and body content to improve customer acquisition and retention, including writing copy for A/B testing
  • Identify public relations and media opportunities for the Hearth brand
  • Sort and prioritize media inquiries and requests, and translate them into actionable plans for the team
  • Establish and maintain media contact databases and systems
  • Monitor media mentions and performance
  • Help develop content and public relations strategies around products and new marketing efforts that deliver measurable results
  • Communicate effectively across teams to accomplish complex projects
  • Maintain brand guidelines throughout all communications
  • Use data to analyze performance and improve tactics
  • Other duties as requested

  • 2+ years of experience in an advertising, public relations, or in-house creative role
  • Experience and understanding of copywriting best practices
  • Self-starter with the ability to solve problems with unclear solutions
  • Experience presenting and selling creative ideas
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Up to date in the latest trends in home improvement, business, and media
  • Fun and collaborative mentality with the ability to generate creative solutions

Preferred but not required:
  • A proven track record of media placements
  • A professional portfolio website with writing examples
  • Experience with SMB or the home improvement industry
