As a Senior Social Media Manager at Whole Foods Market, you will be responsible for translating the organic social strategy and aspirations into action and results through all aspects of the brand's organic social activity, with a heavy focus on content. Reporting into the Principal, Social Media Marketer, this role plays an active and central role in progressing a social-first approach that nurtures engagement and community within a well-established social following. You will be a vocal champion of our social audience and the power of our organic social channels, regularly acting in a consultative capacity with other communications, global and regional marketers.

Responsibilities:

  • Further the brand's social strategy in planning and execution of organic activity, including in support of larger marketing and brand initiatives
  • Work with Principal, Social Media Marketer, to assess alignment of marketing programs with organic social strategy. Articulate the opportunity into channel plans you are the primary point-of-contact for internally
  • Design holistic editorial plans, with considerations from Program owners and other partners, to achieve channel and team goals while serving audience mindset and established channel guardrails
  • Lead content planning and creation, including writing inspiring creative briefs and constructively guiding development of creative, to yield differentiated, purposeful content that's unique to Whole Food Market's social channels
  • Concept, and when needed, create organic social content
  • Partner with Social Media Manager to understand performance drivers, action on learnings and merchandise performance narrative with stakeholders to shape future asks of the channel
  • Shape and steward learning agenda to evolve platform-specific strategies that retain audiences while increasing engagement
  • Actively seek, pitch and execute new tactical opportunities to help realize channel goals
  • Co-lead and shape reactive/opportunistic process and activity
  • Coordinate with Influencer and PR counterparts to ensure maximum integration between channels
  • Collaborate with Social Media Manager, as needed, on day-to-day operations, like publishing, content curation and community management
  • Act as a thought partner and further channel priorities with key internal teams, like Category Marketing, Creative, Paid Media and Regions
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Whole Food Market's brand, experience, products and customer
  • Actively monitor the social space and competitive activity to formulate a thoughtful point of view on opportunities and threats, including regarding brand reputation and communications matters

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years relevant experience in social media marketing or social media content creation at a corporation or agency
  • Experience in physical retail category is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Contemporary understanding of social media channels and best practices, including, but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok and Pinterest
  • Experience using organic social as a brand communications channel, in contrast to a marketing or promotional channel, a plus
  • Extensive, current knowledge of best practices related to driving engagement and brand advocacy
  • Competent in SMMS and intelligence tools, like Khoros and Curalate
  • Capable in social content creation (photography, in-app video editing, design, copywriting)
  • Skilled at working with internal creative teams and cross-functional marketing partners
  • Demonstrates creativity in strategizing and ideating organic social content
  • Forward thinker with an eagerness to challenge norms with new ideas
  • Self-motivated and able to see an idea from conception to execution, collaborating and communicating with key partners and resources along the way
  • Skilled at organizing, planning, and executing simultaneous projects and activities
  • Thoughtful communicator with a polished style
  • Flexible and positive attitude; able to work independently and within teams
  • Excellent organizational skills with a very high attention to detail  
  • Able to work collaboratively and independently, multitask and manage a varied, high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly
  • Exemplary work ethic and disciplined thinking are a must
