The Director of Product Development supports Real Estate operations across The Amherst Group and specifically Amherst Homes. Primary duties include the creation & management of construction documents, facilitating product charrette meetings, managing consultants including but not limited to architects & engineers, and playing an integral role in the plan submittal/approval process. This role will require an understanding of municipality and developer requirements, a technical understanding of construction documents, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders internally and externally. This position will report to Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain.
Forward planning of new communities as related to architecture, engineers, and plan submittals to meet business plan
Collect and define the criteria needed to develop construction documents
Lead and support value engineering initiatives
Budget & cost responsibility for product development function
Lead and execute frame walk meetings
Manage plan change process
Performing minor drafting changes
Updating plans for building code changes
Actively communicate with leadership regarding updates, projections, and potential issues
Deadline driven mindset and the ability to lead the collective team to defined goals
Actively work with the management team to formulate projections and entrance into new markets
Provide on-demand, real-time support to field personnel
Develop and foster a strong working relationship with consultants, municipalities, and field team
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
CD development & Construction knowledge
Project Management expertise
Understanding of building & residential codes
Knowledge of structural elements and product installation means and methods
Demonstrated leadership skills
Demonstrated track record of problem-solving and issue resolution across multiple stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction
5+ years related experience in the Architecture or Building industry
