Who are we?

uShip’s Product Team is responsible for ensuring UShip has best-in-class capabilities to drive ideal experiences for our wide range of customers, across all our properties. The team is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary, feels deeply for our users, and works closely with Design and Engineering.

 

Who are we looking for?

A strategic, operationally-oriented, and experienced product leader who is passionate about building and enabling product development. You will be a critical member of the uShip leadership team and will lead our growing team of Product Managers. Our DPM will play a key role in determining long-term product vision and direction, as well as serving as the ‘voice of the market’ and the ‘face of Product Management’ inside the organization.

 You will gather inputs and ideas from a variety of sources both internal and external to the company and weigh them against business objectives to determine the appropriate business priority. You will manage prioritization of our master product roadmap and priorities queue, including collaboration and discussion about tradeoffs. A natural curiosity and interest in our users should drive you to build a better product .

Things you’ll do

Leadership

  1. Guide uShip towards a culture of product decisions that are informed by deep empathy with our users and the intelligence from how our product works

  2. Evangelize Product Management at uShip

  3. Grow and develop our Product Management team. Mentoring and inspiring should be a particular interest and talent

Teamwork

  1. Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to ensure go-to-market strategies, plans, and activities are aligned with the strategic vision

  2. Work closely with both our VP of Experience to gather customer research and develop insights and with our VP of Engineering to keep projects moving toward completion

  3. Partner with our Chief Product Officer in developing vision and strategy for our full product range; specifically, drive the roadmap and its prioritization, own the objectives of our product work and ensure thorough communication of how we are tracking against the goals

Craft

  1. Thrive in an environment that offers the wide range of challenges particular to the full range of development stages: mature, growth, recently launched, and newly concepted

  2. Identify & analyze product opportunities in light of business model and target customers across uShip's global presence

  3. Perform and communicate thorough business analysis for proposed products and initiatives, including cost/benefit estimates, market trends, competitive analysis, risk analysis, industry best practices, and product development timelines

  4. Plan, prioritize and facilitate the ongoing development of the product line from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize revenue and meet operational, financial and corporate objectives

  5. Institute a test-and-learn culture and advocate for iterating upon our product work and manage the assessment of analytics to inform product design

 

Things you should have done

  1. Deep experience with Product, ideally one with a marketplace model and global reach

  2. Proven track record of developing product features based on insights from data

  3. Demonstrated track record of success in driving the entire product lifecycle, from conception to launch, post-launch evaluation and improvement

  4. Extensive experience with managing and developing teams

  5. Experience collecting and synthesizing product input from multiple sources (users, testers, business development, partners, engineering, competitive products, management, etc.)

  6. Experience working in a fast-paced, agile project management environment, and driving the agile product development process using scrum methodology
